People forget that it goes all the way back to D1 concept art.

3 RepliesIt just baffles me why they would steal art for Marathon, when it was an established IP, albeit dormant before Bungie decided to remake it.
-
4 RepliesIt’s really not looking good for Bungie ….they are a former shadow of themselves now. I’ve gone form 40 hours a week to maybe 5-7 if that , I did have a glimmer of hope but that’s gone now . It’s just not Bungie anymore ….I’m sure Sony have fully got their claws into Bungie . I think more will come out over the next few months .

1 ReplyMaking content is hard. Stealing it is much easier 👍
-
3 RepliesWhat bothers me most is that they don't release the name of the one stealing it 🤔

3 RepliesBungie always has an out with this stuff. It’s someone else’s fault or this responsibility was “outsourced” so they had no idea. This just highlights the massive “skill issue” at Bungie studios and shows how their leadership is simply ok with ripping people off. Own your mistakes Bungie!! I’d say show some integrity but it’s simply not possible for them to do that. Anyone know what their mission statement is?

3 RepliesI wish copyright laws weren’t so obscure. I keep trying to measure how different something needs to be from an original IP to not be considered derivative, but the line is so obscure that I can’t figure it out. In theory, Bungie can take anything that is considered “derivative work,” but it’s super scummy. I have no clue who is in the legal right for any of these cases. The Marathon one is crazy though if all those images are actually in the game. Those are almost one-to-one replicas.

3 RepliesThe other stuff is bad but Nerf AoS is probably a coincidence

1 ReplyWhat are the odds that some of the Ornamental designs are stolen?

26 RepliesI'm about 98% confident that the Red War lawsuit is bunk. That guy is trying to claim basic Hero's Journey beats and story elements based on the same point in our history (Romans/Spartans, to be specific) as his original idea. Not to mention it's come to light that things he claims were his were published after Bungie had already released the content, meaning there's no way it could be stolen. This says nothing about how he claims aspects that aren't even published anywhere were somehow stolen from him. The guy was trying to get a settlement to avoid court fees and it's not working for him. Other than that one specific case, Bungie is pretty definitively caught red-handed stealing art assets again. I'm not exactly surprised, though; look at the people on their team and tell me there's a truly creative bone in any one of them. They get through life aping other peoples' work, hoping no one checks it, and once they get their foot through the door of a major studio it all comes back to bite them in the -blam!-. It's a tale as old as DEI.

13 RepliesJust looked this up. Shame she does not have the resources or will to sue. She would win easily and probably in a big way. The pattern of art theft at bungie is not just concerning, it seems to indicates it is intentional and maybe a coordinated effort. Bungie said there was a lack of oversight and that some laid off dev did this without any knowledge, I would say they are lying through their teeth to try and escape serious judgement. The morally and ethically correct thing to do would pay the person whatever they ask and then add 10% to the total. Then issue a formal public apology admitting wrong doing.
-
It’s not even surprising at all. They don’t have a creative bone in their bodies, that’s why they have to keep ‘drawing inspiration’ from already existing and well established sources. Even got to the stage where they need to bring Star Wars in to fill the void of creativity 🙄
-
1 ReplyI cannot take credit for this. I saw someone posted on Asmongold chat I cannot wait to play Art Raiders so, from henceforth Marathon will be called Art Raiders I cannot unsee it or not call it for what it is! 🤣😂

1 Reply“A former artist” Bungie claim They were probably fired 5 minutes before the tweet went out
-
3 RepliesThe Red War one seems like a bunch of baloney, but the other ones are a definite yikes.
-
2 RepliesI mean are people actually surprised at this point?
-
6 RepliesFor those who don't know Bungo is being sued for stealing 'The Red War' and 'Curse of Osiris' storyline and can't actually defend themselves in court because Bungo vaulted their older content. The Judge will not allow them to use 3rd party sources to defend themselves so they must use the game to defend them... But can't because it's no longer in the game, lol
-
2 RepliesIt's a shame they couldn't have stolen some of the good ideas people have had to improve the game over the last few years.
-
Car collection -stolen They pretty muched robbed art from talented people to then sell it at an overpriced rate to us. And they also took it away from us and put it into the DCV after we paid for it. No words for this...
-
3 RepliesOnce is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times? That’s a pattern. Bungie’s excuse doesn’t pass the smell test with me.
-
1 ReplyBungie - it’s called “inspiration”, not stealing. - So when are we getting back the Red War & old dlc back??? Bungie 😡
-
Shhhh! they will hear you XD

14 RepliesPay the artists and pay them well. They should be paying her double at this point.
-
Well.. 2 things will happen now. Bungie bans the accounts and pretends nothing happened. Or bungie shuts down marathon, fires the group that made the “art”, and raises the pricing for the Destiny 2 items. I cannot wait to see how hilarious this will turn out to be.

Edited by MythosPraxis: 5/16/2025 9:40:47 PMThey didn’t even take her signature off the assets they straight ripped from her portfolio. Insane.
