Hi there, Thanks for reaching out. If your name was changed for you, this means it was in violation of the Code of Conduct. Bungie does not provide details as to why specific names are actioned. If you have a name change available, you can use it to change your name, provided the new name passes inspection from the name filter. If you have no name change available, as you say is the case for you, then unfortunately you'll be stuck with the name you currently have. You can find more information about name changes and the like here: https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/7648312251284-Bungie-Name-Guide

So you remove a name that wasn't actually harmful and give us no way to change it? Do you not see how messed up that is? If you can't provide details as to why my name was actioned when it wasn't causing harm, the least you could do is allow me to change it. It is clear your system thought this name was derogatory when it wasn't. Seriously. Stand behind your own product. If it's not filtering right, then you need to fix that. If you want to force people to lose their names without any human intervention, then you could at least allow a name change itself. It's not that difficult. The fact that games like Marvel Rivals have figured this out and y'all haven't.. come on bungie. This is ridiculous that the game has been out for years and you can't even get a name change.

  • That's a general policy, not the details to my specific report. My name was not harmful or derogatory. My point stands that if they're not going to stand behind their product and give an actual reason (not a vague one like yours,) they need to give a name change.

  •
My name was not harmful or derogatory.
Had you read the code and guide you would understand that harmful and derogatory are not the only reasons names can be moderated. Since you seem to be intentionally obtuse about it, rule 6 of the code would apply to 2/3 of your platform names.
My point stands that if they're not going to stand behind their product and give an actual reason (not a vague one like yours,) they need to give a name change.
You have no point. You play Bungie's game, agreeing to Bungie's terms, or make your own game and make your own rules.

If you can't see my point, I can't help you. Y'all know that the name had to go through bungie's filters in the first place, right? Like if y'all want to defend a poor practice that's fine, but let's not act like I hacked the system and put in a name the system didn't approve in the first place. Rule 6 is "Depictions, references, or descriptions of graphic violence or explicit/implicit -blam!- content." What was explicit or implicitly -blam!-? I'll wait. Nothing about my name was -blam!- content or graphic violence. My name is a joke and lists a body part that's not even inherently -blam!- - it's just a funny word. Context is important and AI failed when I was clearly revenge reported. It's weird that y'all are defending bungie while plugging your ears about what I'm saying.

  • Based on your previous replies you should be able to review your name choice and the policies and see where the issue lies. Bungie does not discuss moderation actions. As for name changes, they have issued every one 3 changes to date, if you have none remaining, your only recourse would be to wait for such a time where more are issued to the population. Tokens are not given in response to names found to not be in alignment with the name policies set forth.

As said above, since y'all think repeating each other will do something: "Depictions, references, or descriptions of graphic violence or explicit/implicit content." - that is the policy. My name did not include implicit/explicit content or graphic violence. My name had to *PASS* their filters before hand to even be entered in. I know why my name was removed - I was reported by two net limiting people who tried to join my discord and clan. I blocked them and when they tried to ban evade to get to me again they got salty at another block. Y'all are so concerned with wanting to be right that you're not even listening. Just because there is a word that triggers AI doesn't mean we get to remove all context or we get to just pretend anything with certain words break a rule. Human moderation is important when AI fails and that is what happened here. Why do y'all refuse to realize this?

  • Reports do not trigger moderation actions, they only flag the account for review, Bungie staff members, then review the name and if it does not align with name guidelines or the code of conduct they moderate it. Conversely, had the name aligned with the policies, no changes would have been made. I am listening and understand your frustrations, unfortunately, Bungie's staff are the ones who make the final decision. Regarding the filters, while names are ran through filters when manually changed or at the initial setup, not every thing is detectable at the time. That is why the filter system is constantly being updated and manual reports are also reviewed. Just because the name evaded detection in the past does not grant it immunity from moderation in the future. Regarding
"Depictions, references, or descriptions of graphic violence or explicit/implicit content." - that is the policy. My name did not include -blam!- content or graphic violence.
While not privy to the specific reason in your case, I can see that based on your Steam and Twitch names shown on your profile, that the portion of your name following the x's could run afoul of this policy. Again, I can appreciate your disagreement, however it does not change Bungie's decision.

Dude, read the policy. You say you appreciate the disagreement but you're not even seeing that my name doesn't fall under that. Graphic violence? Implicit -blam!- content? Y'all. Come on. We've been over this. If a human can review this and see that my name did not actually break this rule, then the decision should be reversed. Because at the end of the day it doesn't. It's that simple. Why are y'all defending bungie's decision here we routinely know they make poor ones? This is one of them. "Conversely, had the name aligned with the policies, no changes would have been made." Uh it literally did - again, there is nothing violent nor implicitly -blam!-. It's a joke b/c the word makes people giggle like children like the word "fart" and if you're making it -blam!- I mean... first question is why? Why would you -blam!- my name like that? That's just weird to apply that to my name that is obviously a joke, and then make me responsible for you -blam!- it. Finally, if a human really did review this they would know in the context of things this didn't actually break the rule - remove my name for a specific word, fine, but don't say I broke a rule I didn't. And give me a name change cause it's stupid to make me run around as redacted.

  • So what do you think the last 1/2 of your name refers to?

  • A human body part that doesn't belong on a shark. Hence the joke.

actually is is slang for a body part and a word that is censored here on the forums. Bungie did not find your joke funny. Breast would be the actual part -blam!- is censored

  • No it's not? In certain contexts yes but outside that no, it's just a human body part. Mostly used to feed children so... yea def not -blam!- by nature unless you make it that way.
