Lol it’s the Bungie forums.
Posting Marathon updates under Bungie News would be expected.
The hate is real haha.

Bungie is dead bro lol destiny is all they have left. Deny that truth and it’s all over for them
-
Edited by The Hermit IX: 5/1/2025 4:24:15 PMBungie has only had Destiny for a decade. Not following your logic. You constantly play so there’s that too. Any cheese for your whine?
-
The app is literally called destiny 2
-
lol which takes you to the Bungie forums. Marathon is a Bungie game. The posts are under Bungie News not D2 pages. Check the main page my guy. It says Bungie forums. Good lord.
-
And what does it say right above all when you enter the forums?
-
Edited by The Hermit IX: 5/1/2025 4:31:23 AMIt says Bungie.net forums and provides a link to the CoC. First thing under that is Marathon, then Destiny haha. You do know anyone can see that. Their Marathon updates are on Bungie News not D2 forums. Is this that difficult to understand?
-
For starters, this wasn’t focused on the forums. But when you click into the forums, if you read inside the tab it says “discuss all things destiny 2. This app, destiny 2. Therefore, the content on it should probably mirror… wait for it… destiny 2. you can’t be that off base. A large portion of the skeleton crew left in this player base doesn’t want another game shoved in their face. It’s really not a hard concept to grasp. But whatever you say next - sure, yeah, you’re right. I’ve made my case and you disagree. Not gonna do the back and forth anymore
-
This App is nothing but bungie.net in app form.
-
You’re upset over Marathon not the Bungie forums. Bungie will make other games eventually too. Trying to tell a studio that they shouldn’t make other games than the one you like is a bit absurd. The updates are in Bungie News not D2 forums so these posts aren’t even accurate and are disingenuous. But to be clear the top thing listed is Bungie forums then the games. You’re using a D2 app to reach the D2 forums but they are all on the Bungie forums.
-
Hermit its the first thing you see when you open the DESTINY 2 app. Thats what we are talking about. Not Bungie app destiny 2 app. And yes im still angry with Bungie for not ponying up to make pvp consistently playable but having competitive modes like it is reliable.
-
It’s not the first thing you see lol. Your app doesn’t open to Bungie news so stop lying. Either way I think it’s hysterical how grown men cry over games.
-
It is the first thing you see right there. Dude what are you talking about open the app
-
The app takes you to Bungie forums not to a Marathon update lol. You guys are the biggest whiners lol. It’s ok for a company to use their forums to promote their games.
-
Nah man you open the destiny app and Bam marathon in your face!! Its not talking me anywhere.
-
I open my app no different than you my guy. It’s a Bungie forum and last time I checked both Destiny and Marathon are Bungie games. If it hurts your feeling don’t use their forums.
-
Then you are not opening the ios app
-
It usually opens to the last thing I was looking at. If it’s a while it opens to their main page not Bungie News.
-
Its right there so whatever. It doesn't belong anywhere near destiny after what they did.
-
Yea it does and if you’re being taken into Marathon updates it’s because you chose to read them. Scrolling is now too hard for some lol.
-
Bungie will make other games eventually too.
That's a stretch right now tbh, several things have lined up to potentially create the perfect storm & that could see them disappear within 2-3 years. Not super likely, but a possibility, with great % than most people know & when there's a chance it's a huge issue.
-
Not now but down the line for sure.

Edited by JerBear: 5/1/2025 9:19:31 AMGiven the info out there it doesnt look good, there may not be a down the line. Read below if interested, no gane spoilers just a bit of info & leaks
There's a few discords out there which have members who know these things, & apparently parsons told staff after Sony meetings about FS missing targets last year that the studio closes if marathon fails, destiny no longer brings in enough to keep the lights on & it's simply success or bust. This may have been to focus staff but it had the opposite effect. This was revealed by several sources including trusted ones like Jason Schrierer who said he didn't want to commit personally just yet but he's been told it's a big possibility. Then there's Sony hating the fact bungie are in Seattle, the most expensive place on earth to make games by all accounts. Expenditure is wild out there, bungie paid 100m for a 1 year lease for a studio they never used as an example, & firewalk were in Seattle & Sony didn't hesitate to shut that as soon as concord flopped, not even attempting free to play, because monthly costs deemed it pointless. Then there's the upcoming final sony buyout & retention payments for all staff, due April or early summer 2026, paid as long as marathon releases in a playable state by a certain date (rumoured end of 25). It's common knowledge amongst gaming Devs in general that this will mass staff exodus, it's quite a sum & people have been hanging around before they jump ship. Most, if not all management are thought to be going & a lot have new jobs lined up already. Then let's look at current numbers & feeling. Marathon is averaging 50-70 players, with over 40k codes being sent out. Players are reporting seeing the same names daily & mm taking forever or just failing. Average playtime is a few hours per account. Feedback is -blam!- online & it couldnt have gone any worse. Bungie answered this by offering potential future changes but well after launch (when most of the staff maybe left the studio lol). Destiny is in a really bad place, numbers very low, bad feeling, bugs, bad connections, the usual. If this reveal on Tuesday isn't mind-blowing & the cost substantial pre orders could be lower than they need to please sony. So let's look big picture here, from Sony's viewpoint. You own a company in Seattle, running costs are substantial. They have a new game, that didn't sell well after a 7 year build costing hundreds of millions, an old dying game with plummeting numbers & sales for 5 years straight & a fatigued playerbase. You've just paid the final payouts to staff & a lot then resigned. So there's not much money coming in, you still need staff to run these games so likely need to hire & pay Seattle wages, to maintain & build 2 games with low player counts & not much growth availability, all the while paying extortionate rent. It's not much of a stretch to make the financial decision to just close it all down & take the purchase loss, just like they did with firewalk. Sony will always take the 2.2b outlay purchase cost hit, rather than pour money down the drain trying to save face. This all sounds doom & gloom, & it may be perfectly fine. The reveal might be mind blowing & marathon may take off when it's in the hands of the public in the beta. But the position bungie have put themselves in means the end coming sooner rather than later is a real possibility
Edited by The Hermit IX: 5/1/2025 9:29:04 AMSure thing lol. The end is near has been posted here for 7 years, yet here we are and we both play.
-
Nothing like this, bungie were always in control, & had motivation, now they don't have either - they're just employees run by a corporation, they're no longer invested & the drop off is clear. Putting fingers in your ears & humming doesn't stop what's potentially coming. I suggest you pray for marathons success, I know I am. When destiny ends my gaming days are over
-
I’ll play Marathon but not as much as D2. Looks fun and Bungie shooters are always enjoyable. I’d love to see them get Halo back too.
