Anyone else who wants another meta then pulse rifles?
The last meta’s for PvP were all pulse rifles… Bygones, Messenger, Stay Frosty, No time to Explain, Elsie’s rifle, Piece of Mind, Redrix’s Estoc, Outbreak, Vigilance…
Don’t get me wrong I get it why. Players like the ease of use. Pulse rifles are really forgiving, are like laser beams, are good on long and short range.
I would like to see a switch though. Make pulse rifles a bit harder to use. Maybe a little more recoil or something.

But having metas encourages persistent grinding for the latest and greatest guns, so they will never do it, unfortunately.

Please don’t ask for nerfs. Pulses are in a good spot. Only a few outliners. Buff another weapon type, but that will just make other people complain about that. Metas do get boring in destiny sandbox as the buffs and nerfs come round shy. But there are off meta picks out there and they suprise people!

5 RepliesWe could use some other primary options tbh, we only have 7 total I think, no one wants a scout, auto, or pulse meta. So that leaves HCs for mid range, and someone is constantly complaining about those, same whenever SMGs are meta. Honestly I think someone is gonna complain no matter what archetype is meta.

There are enough choices. Imho. I used to main pulses and sidearms, since a few months I changed to scouts and autos/SMGs. A lot of people still use HCs/shotties or fusions. Personally I think that weapon balance is OK, but special ammo economy is still too forgiving and way more than weapons the ability spam is detrimental. But that won't change, it's part of this game.

1 ReplyThey should just adjust their range and accuracy cone at range. So they dont kill at insane ranges with perfect accuracy. And more zoom so you dont have people dueling with pulses at autoriffle or smg ranges like people are currently capable of doing. Pulses should be ONLY strong at midrange. Not at all 3 type of ranges.

I am a pulse rifle main, and even I am tired of pulse rifles , one weapon dominating the sandbox isn't fun, no matter if it's handcannons or pulses Buff SMGs and Autos, Gun n Fun , close quarters combat Also go back to special meter, make people earn thier cheese with primary kills -
I like pulses, but I'm using scouts and doing just fine.

The problem is the meta can only ever be range based or it devolves into the same old meta we had for years. If the far range scout and pulse are strong then those will lead to range primary play. If either of those (particularly pulses) get nerfed, then it will roll right back to hand cannon shotgun/fusion, closer than that then smg shotgun/fusion. There's only a few metas to rotate between and we probably won't see another auto rifle meta since the old hardlight debacle. We sure as sugar won't see a bow meta in our lifetimes so that's what we're left with. Hand cannon/SMG w shotgun/fusion (occasionally a sniper), or pulse rifle/scout w sniper or backup close range primary. I'm ok with pulse for now because I've been around long enough to hate HC/Shotty meta that was dominant (and is still strong) for many years.

If people really want to change the meta then they need to stop using the meta and start being way more curious about creating new play styles. Me, personally, I think when Bungie sees something over performing they should just disable its use until they can balance it. That will in turn force people to try something different; something new
