This is fair but it goes both ways. If you are playing to win in the mode that is about playing to win there's no shame in that either. I frequently got hate messages of people telling me i'm trying too hard etc when i'm just playing, using the same things everyone else does. I'm solo queue just trying to get my games in and having to match cheaters or stacks every other game. Just being a normal person using what's good and not bothering anyone is pretty inoffensive all things considered.
I don't agree with harassing people over the game either way. I frequently get people in my lobbies sandbagging using gimmick loadouts and i'm just like oh well. -50 and queue again. Not a big deal

I agree, I’m not the greatest player, so if I end up in a fireteam of much better players and I’m dragging them down, I don’t get upset if they (politely) kick me off. Usually people are pretty decent, but they should say something if they’re feeling frustrated a player is holding them back. I’ll be upfront about being under matched and usually people are pretty cool about it. It’s not fun when someone is just messing around and you want to complete something. A lot of times though other players will pick up my slack which I’m grateful for and we have a great team that everyone works together.

That is big deal such player run the experience by international throwing the match. Hopefully bungie won’t try think this behavior is positive for the new game marathon. It’s same for any other fps game no likes players intentionally throwing the game and screw over there teammates.
