I’m Not Even Gonna Complain Much (But I’m Tired)

Subclasses Bungie, can we please stop with the power creeping? Not just on weapons but subclasses too. I know Dokii already made a post about Warlock subclasses, so I’m not gonna dive too deep into that. But seriously, can y’all just make all subclasses viable? There’s no reason why something needs to be nerfed five or six times just to get it “in line” with the others. If one subclass is that much better, maybe instead of dragging it down, you should bring the rest up. It really feels like you don’t playtest this stuff properly. There’s barely any subclass diversity in the game literally just meta picks. If you buffed the rest of the subclasses equally, maybe we’d finally see some variety. I shouldn’t be loading into Comp, Clash, or any PvP mode and seeing everyone running the same subclass because it’s 5x better than the rest. It’s ruining Trials and every other PvP mode. Hot take: If one subclass is always gonna dominate for no reason, then just make Trials class based and let the game die fr. There’s no excuse for Trials queue times to be long just because everyone’s trying to use the same broken subclass and nobody plays the other classes in the game. Nobody should feel forced into one subclass just to have a shot at winning. Please playtest your game and bring some real diversity back like idk what yall are doing. Weapons Okay, so I’m a hand cannon main always have been, always will be and I’m sick of only feeling like I can use Rose im starting to hate the sound it makes literally. Why do y’all bring back old weapons like Spare Rations, Judgment, Eyasluna, Palindrome, etc., just to power creep them and leave them in the same spot they were before completely overshadowed? I love those guns, but they don’t even feel worth using anymore. Same goes for autos, pulses, sidearms, and SMGs. Why is it always just 1 or 2 weapons dominating while the rest collect dust? Example: Redrix. There’s no way a Trials weekend should show one weapon with over 3 million kills while others barely touch 500k. You see the issue. It’s the same with subclasses too every class has just one dominant pick every week. Warlocks: Always Dawnblade. Titans: One pick dominates every time. Hunters: Half the population, still just one subclass getting all the love. If we all can see the imbalance Bungie then ik you forsure can. Crucible Weapons And finally why are most Crucible specific guns trash in Crucible, except for a few meta ones? Like, how does it make sense that weapons you get from PvP are more useful in PvE than PvP? That just doesn’t add up. Look idk what else to say if it gets out to them good if not then oh well I tried. Go Dreadrose!

    • They gotta do something to keep it feeling fresh, the artifact just emphasis the point. I don't believe each subclass should be a one glove fits all. And there is a point that where some subclasses are just fun for the sake of fun. Like right now arc titan is running rampant, but there's x amount of artifact perks buffing it plus a heal. Last episode it was prismatic, before that strand, little bit before that solar. And in typical destiny fashion right out of the box they are typically busted. Weapon power creeps are interesting because they release perks like voltshot and incandescent and all legendary add clearing weapons become irrelevant. Envious arsenal is just better reconstruction. Sometimes they go a bit overboard like the linear fusion nerf. Overbuff like GLs with the audacity to add perks like BnS onto them.

    • I mean weapon wise it goes the same for pve weapons most are good in pvp, prime example was conditional finality, in no way should a raid weapon be the dominant pvp weapon lol, it has its uses and its good in pve. Just an example.

    • is more a player problem, players will choose the easy to use option compared to something different that requires more work but is still super strong

    • Titans one pick dominates every time. What does that mean? You clearly outline everything bar this. Not being a -blam!- but I’m a behemoth main and I have seen a mix of Void, Arc and Prismatic for titans this season. If anything it’s one of the most balanced classes for PvP right now.

    • you should try out the adept/crafted fatebringer, i just started using it again for the first time in a month and put 300 kills on it in a couple of days. it has great range and stability for a 140, along with bonus super on kills.. i usually end up with first or second super in comp games even if my team is getting mopped by redrix nightstalkers LMAO. my suggestion is: smallbore, accurized, keep away, precision instrument/eots (preference), and a range MW. you have around 36.3 meters of range and good all around stats, just gotta get over the flashlight lol

      • I have been adamant since day one, that the 3 characters in Destiny should have been created using the rock, paper, scissors method. I.e, each class has its unique strengths and weaknesses, but can also be overcome or defended against by the other 2. From the beginning, the hunter had the best abilities for PvP, so as the community grew, so did the desire to play as a hunter. That's why more people play as hunters than the other 2 classes combined in todays game. If all 3 classes would have been created equally from the start, the sandbox would have been the only thing to balance now and then, and again, this is caused by unrealistic weapon abilities, and also pressure from players who moan and whinge because they don't like a particular play style. Plus the lack of game play testing. For example, players moan because they are getting killed by snipers and scouts from the back of maps. This is the way those weapons work. Are people who use snipers expected to recklessly run round a map with a scout or sniper like a brainless shotgun ape? Of course not. Hand cannons have always had ridiculous range, but should have nowhere near the accuracy of a rifle. Anyone who has ever fired a high power hand gun would know what a serious kick these weapons have, yet players are able to pop off numerous headshots while running, sliding, jumping, dodging and spinning. Really??? As for shotguns and sidearms, well, considering they should be the weakest weapons in the game with the shortest range, they make one hell of an impact from all distances. Biased character development and unrealistic weaponry have caused this Frankenstein monster of a game to be what it is. Couple this with Bungie nerfing and buffing to try to please all players, this is why PvP is in such a sorry mess. And that is without mentioning the technical problems, poor matchmaking, and of course, the cheating epidemic and lack of policing.

"We should stop with powercreep" *proceeds to describe the system of balancing that causes powercreep* If you want powercreep to stop, then you can't just buff. A healthy sandbox requires buffs AND nerfs. If you only buff, then everything gets more powerful over time. We know this doesn't work, we've seen that theory in practice in more games than just destiny. Beyond that, it doesn't make sense from a dev time or economical perspective to buff everything to meet the highest common denominator, rather than nerfing outliers to be more in line with the rest of the sandbox. Let's say one subclass is clearly dominant, obviously ahead of the rest. There are 18 subclasses in the game. It is not a hard equation to solve. To have everything meet that higher subclass, you have to do 17 times the work you would have to do to bring down the outlier. That's before we start accounting for having to actually test how your buffs and nerfs work in the sandbox, and the planning of what specifically to buff/nerf.

      • The most balanced class of weapons are sidearms, change my mind.

      • Yes I 100% agree no lie I am 10/10 with you in this statement no question. You are completely absolutely correct and have made no mistake in your sentence whatsoever and I applaud you for that as you have made a thoughtful statement that many agree with and those that disagree are in the minority because your statement has absolutely no faults and thus is completely without a question correct and deserves nothing but agreement.
