Most of the artifact is set up for predetermined builds...with limited selectable perks they can see what players are using and have hard documentation on interactions for future perks on guns or subclasses...think of it as a live survey you are forced to take and lock in answers to best match your preferred play style...if it was always on there would be no engagement or feedback or testing interactions...

As it is now if I change from arc to void on a loadout I must then manually change the artifact perk selections back to void/volatile ones from the arc/strand ones. Or to run court of blades I have to again manually select the arc/strand/trace rifle etc. options. It's just stupidly annoying given how dependent a build can be on artifact setup that the artifact is now an entirely manual process separate from your loadout when previously it was a part of your loadout. Really not a hard thing to do its just 12 integer variables in any code or memory so no more complex than any weapon armour or mod to store. Even back when they were mods and all unlocked you couldn't use them all at the same time because you were limited by mod slots. The significant difference though was that your mods were part of your loadout so your artifact setup was to and it is not anymore.

Agreed... sorry I'm in a rant kind of mood today... also they need to let us separate armor and weapons...I don't like going to an old load out and needing to fight my vault... pull from vault should be a switch to flip
