It's a game play preference nothing more... 1&2 are drastically different over 3&4 in that regard and can't be compared... Different art and graphic styles as well

I can definitely accept that position, it definitely has a unique gameplay that's rarely ever used anymore. There's not a great way to compare them to each other in terms of said gameplay except for by preference.
