So why can’t you change the name yourself? Does it say you have no name change available?

Just to add to this, there's an acknowledged issue where players have reported their name changes have gone missing. We should all have three in total - apart from the one we got in 2021 with the new system, one was given with Into the Light in early 2024, and one more in mid 2024 due to the 'name reset' wave. It sounds like you've been affected by this, but there's nothing you can really do about it until Bungie makes a statement. However for the time being you could get reset to Guardian using my initial reply, and hopefully get your other name changes back in the near future so you can change to something else.

I see, didnt know about that issue, never knew they even handed out new tokens. Does clearing my cache fix that?

No it's 100% on Bungie's side.

Then you’re outta luck unless you request it be reset (or Bungie defaults it) to guardian, or until Bungie allows more changes. Next time, be sure to read the name change policy & follow it.
