No, because Bungie uses the platform authentication to authenticate the user, so if an account can't authenticate on PSN, it won't work on Bungie either.
Can the suspended account authenticate successfully (so, log in correctly) on PSN?

Follow-up question (and maybe only answerable by Bungie: If a PSN is deleted on the Playstation end, is it permanently tied to the Bungie account or does it get removed from the Bungie due to it not existing anymore?

Edited by viiTactiiCZz: 3/17/2025 9:54:25 PMIt's permanently bound to the Bungie account until the user unlinks it, but you can't unlink a deleted/suspended platform account unless the platform restores/unbans the account.

Interesting to think of a permanently banned or deleted account being restored. I wonder if Bungie is unwilling to help with account unlinking due to policy or if physically incapable of doing so.

It's policy. It would be possible at system/database level to unlink it or create the ability to unlink without authentication but they're strict on not doing that.

Interesting, thank you. Do you know this by being at Bungie now or at one point?

Edited by viiTactiiCZz: 3/18/2025 12:18:17 AMI have never worked at Bungie, been on the forums for a while and seen Bungie responses to questions and have read through their different pages such as the privacy policy, cross-save FAQs etc. in regards to my second part of the comment, its more an understanding of how the platform authentication works in general after reading the documentation provided by Xbox/PSN/Steam etc. Bungie are comparing the information they have stored for a platform account against the response given by the platform service, if they match then the account unlinking is processed. If they were to remove the actual authentication check step for unlinking and assume all clicks on the unlink button were done by the account owner then the user could unlink by simply pressing the button. At a database/system level the people working on them have direct access to the data and could directly carry out the same queries they use for account unlinking after the user has authenticated a platform account. This however is, as unfortunate as it sounds, not really a good use of their time - there would be non-stop requests from players asking to get banned/incorrectly linked etc accounts unlinked by those teams. They scatter information all over the place on Bungie.net, the policy for account unlinking is:
Destiny Player Support and Bungie cannot modify or remove accounts linked to Bungie.net profiles. To protect player privacy and data, you must be able to log in to any linked accounts to prove ownership prior to modifying your linked account. If you no longer have access to a linked account, you will need to reach out to the specific platform’s support for assistance with account recovery options.
It's not really 'cannot modify or remove accounts' and more 'we wont allow staff to modify or remove accounts as its a security measure'

This is a hypothetical, so I cannot answer that. But what you state makes sense. If they can still log in to the PSN account (even if deactivated/suspended) then they would still have access to the Bungie linking.
