The highest rarity of something not being guaranteed. What a strange concept.

I’ve gone through these activities many many times only to see a shiny drop once MAYBE twice. It’s the same scenario when “Into The Light” came out. The shiny drop rates were terrible and still were with the buff during that time. It’s a poor design.

Intentional rarity is not poor design. Shiny adepts are meant to be exceedingly rare. Are you going to melt away if you never get one? Are they must haves? No. Making them more common defeats the point. It's fine if there's super rare loot.
Intentional rarity is not poor design. Shiny adepts are meant to be exceedingly rare. Items should not be so rare to the point of hardly ever dropping for the players. Why do you think people complained about “Into The Light”?. Are you going to melt away if you never get one? Are they must haves? No. Making them more common defeats the point. It's fine if there's super rare loot.
This is a looter shooter and the goal is to obtain the best loot possible. Not play hours and hours without a chance at a single drop with already bad weighted RNG. What a strange concept to think.

You clearly havent played many looter shooter because as far back as 2012's Borderlands 2, there were legendary weapon drops with 1/1000 chance of dropping. Here's the thing. Your post is basically "I don't have what I want so you need to tweak the drop rates so I do." Bungie could increase the drop rate a bit and the way probability works is...you still might not get what you want. I don't know how else to explain the concept of something being intentionally exceedingly rare without you basically replying with "I don't care I want it now." Good lord.

Edited by WinterSolstice: 3/12/2025 9:28:10 PMWell it's less 1/1000 it was like 1/10-1/50 for a drop but a 1/1000 for it to have the right stuff on it. But a big difference is how fast you can do something. I can run maybe 3 nether runs in an hour at most but in that time I could've killed a borderlands 2 boss like 50-100 times. Borderlands 2 balanced rarity with how fast you could fight something. Only bosses that couldn't be beaten quick basically dropped 1-3 weapons guaranteed. Generally when you look at the time it takes to get a perfect weapon/shield/class item it's like 1-5 hours. Only like 1 item in the game has an insanely high time to get which can't remember (I think the shield from bunker) which was like 30-60 hours or something like that. In d2 the expected time to get a god roll for most weapons is like 50-100 hours if there's no focusing option and the shiny adepts are worse. Because a shiny is like 1/100 and an adept is like 1/10 when running expert and completing encounters. Besides that Borderlands 2 items are PERMANENT I could farm for something and come back 5 years later and still get it. D2 items are temporary if I leave for like 5 months it'll all be gone and impossible to get anymore.

Dude you can farm the first Nether encounter in 3 minutes and reset and no, those Borderlands 2 drop rates on some weapons WERE 1/1000 lol

Edited by amazing_month041: 3/12/2025 11:36:24 AM1 should be guaranteed at least Imagine doing GM's/Master raids for only having a chance to getting adepts
-
Good thing The Nether isn't any of those activities. Nor does it even play similarly.
-
Who's talking about expert Nether is same as a GM/master raid? If the best loots supposed to be rare ( Adepts in this case ) then why GM's/master raids has 100% drop chance? Isn't D2 supposed to be a looter shooter where we have to grind to get the best weapon's?

Edited by Ferus Lux: 3/12/2025 2:11:58 PMYour argument doesn't hold up because best doesn't equate to rare and rare doesn't equate to best. Nowhere did I say the shiny weapons were the best.
-
Who's mentioned shiny in the first place? The OP was about adepts and if Bungie follows the logic that best doesn't equate to rare" and "rare doesn't equate to best" ( they does follows it )then expert nether/blades should have guaranteed adept weapons like GM's/master rapids :)
-
The topic literally says shiny adepts. You are clowning HARD and now I hit mute.
-
OP is talking about the SHINY ADEPTS. The adept version sof the double perk rolls that coem pre masterworked. That's literally what the main post is talking about and they are MEANT to be rare, but they're not game breakingly good. I already made a post about the adepts at base having pretty -blam!- drop rates, or are weighted to hell. Hell i've been doing 200 runs of nether now and i have seen 2 adept autos, but over 60 swords and 50 linears. -blam!-'s meant to be rare but something is definitely going on since the first week of the seasons drops were much more balanced, and ever since the second week i've only seen sword and linear adepts.
