Who ever liked him? His character feels like he just tries WAYYYY to hard to sound cool. All of his lines have always been cringe AF. They introduced him after killing cade and it's always felt like bungie's been trying way too hard to make him Cade's replacement (not officially or story-wise, that would be crow - also cringe) which automatically makes me hate him by default. Meaning, in terms of having a morally ambiguous foil to the other tower characters like zavala/ikora/saint/Osiris etc. I hate that they use him so much in the story, he really has no purpose at all besides running Gambit, but they could replace him with literally anyone and Gambit would already be 100x less painful to sit through, not nearly enough to make it enjoyable, of course, but it'd be better than nothing!
