Earlier today, Virgin Media reported that they were investigating an issue where customers were unable to connect to Destiny or Call of Duty services. They also posted a service alert stating that this was an issue.
However, it is possible that the issue is persisting. Can you please try power cycling your modem and router and see if the issue persists? If it is still persisting, it is possible that they are still working on the issue.

Today is the same issue. I've power-cycled the xbox twice and cold-rebooted the router twice. It's Destiny
