DE do a better job of this - when you log into Warframe, if something has changed you'll see a (very) small patch being applied (usually a matter of megabytes).
You then have the option of just launching straight into the game or checking out the patch notes before you do, plus you have the option of checking those notes after the fact by launching your browser from within the in-game notification board.
That way, it's entirely up to you

Edited by The-IIID-Emp1r3: 1/5/2025 3:55:39 PMZZZ also has a ingame mail box and weblink system, each selectable box does something different in terms of what weblink it is, but one is for dev notifications and event notifications. And unlike bungie, Mihoyo likes to give away something every time, be it to entice players to check out a new event or when they say sorry about something affecting the game / fixed something / networking issues etc. Which you can see patch notes from there too. Game patches are pushed through the game client rather than rely on waiting on Sony approval (??? Bungie what are you doing lol? Why aren't you doing what all these other games had been doing for decades? You already push small tiny patches through the D2 game client, USE IT MORE) Imagine if bungie gave us 100 silver everytime they communicated their mess-ups ingame lol...... Yeah they would never

👆🏻Exactly this👆🏻 Plus, if I’m not mistaken, they roll out patches while the game is running. I remember messages saying “stay in your activity while we apply this patch” or something like that.

Edited by TwinStripe9070: 1/3/2025 1:21:04 PMThey actually make a pretty clear distinction between a patch (which applies as the game starts up) and a hotfix (which applies in game, but requires you to log out and log back in again to take effect once applied). In either event, it's really quick, doesn't require 4 hours of downtime and doesn't spam you with notifications that take up half the screen. (They also maintain all of the background system components separately, and will run maintenance on things like the chat server and marketplace without interrupting anyone's playing time)

Guess we can’t expect too much professionalisme from a “poor indie company” like Bungie 🤷🏻♂️

It beggars belief really that they'll still blame these things on a lack of resources when (even after the layoffs) they still operate with 30-50% more staff than any other company doing the same thing... but better!
