They just need to sunset weapons. Not because it's fair, but because it's the only way to refresh the game grind. And I mean COMPLETELY sunset the guns, out of the game. Leave the exotics, but all legendary weapons should be gone.

  • Well they did that exact thing with the release of Beyond light. 3 years later they un-sunsetted those weapons. So sunsetting did not fix it.

They didn't completely remove all the weapons. That's what I suggested. They need an inventory and power wipe, plus they need to add back power level to ALL activities. Not just 1/2 of them. Make the game hard. It makes the grind for power level more enticing, and acquiring weapons is always a good carrot to chase. Then add in the new armor changes that make getting new armor attractive, and BOOM, you instantly make all content relevant again.

  • No. We don’t need the game to be “hard”. 80% of players couldn’t solo the average strike boss.

  • So what? Tell the 80% to get good, and stop hand holding. That's what video games are supposed to do. Make it hard so you are forced to either get better, or grind out power levels until you can finally overcome the challenge with pure power. You know why Eldin Ring is so successful? Not because it's storylines and lore are so immersive and thought provoking (they aren't) or because the gameplay is so enthralling and responsive (it isn't)...but it is because the challenge is there, and it is made easier by spending hours in the game finding ways to get better loot. Destiny has responsive and enthralling gameplay, and amazing stories that are genuinely emotional and worthy of our time (usually). What it lacks is the persistent challenge and reason to spend hours in the game exploring for ways to get more powerful. Bungie also doesn't reward enough cosmetic loot to make the grind interesting for the Dresstiny crowd, either. Once you acquire the loot and beat the rather easy content, it's either spend real money, or play another game.

  • No actually it’s supposed to be fun. Which is why most players don’t go grandmasters. You are essentially suggesting shooting themselves in the foot. People -blam!- HATED when neomuna was harder than the average patrol space. You are being selfish. Also Elden ring has a very different community to destiny.

  • When Beyond light dropped, they deleted a -blam!- load of content, and any weapons before Beyond light were unobtainable and any weapons that you had, had their powers locked at a lower level. So yes weapons were deleted, not from you but from the world pool, activity pool, vendor pool and world pool. They have been slowly adding those weapons back and that is probably why you think that they were never deleted.

  • They were never deleted because they were never deleted. I play a ton of PvP, so for me, these weapons were never deleted. For Trials players, ya, I guess. But the Trials game mode isn't my thing. I like fun, not frustration. So ya, they were always there. They were never deleted. You could also use "sunset" weapons on patrols, strikes, lost sectors, seasonal events, Gambit, and other non-power level related content I may be forgetting. I'm suggesting ACTUALLY deleting weapons from the game.

So if we went with what you wanted, 1 exotic and abilities is all we would have until we got a reskinned weapon with the exact same stats and functionality as the weapon it replaced. I wonder how many people would just instantly quit the game if they did that. People hated the sunset with Beyond light, so could you imagine what would happened if they now decided to delete everything but the exotics ? The game would die right there and then.

Blue, green and white weapons are in the game. Weapons make up only about 1/3 of our damage anyway, so it's really more about giving people a reason to grind the content. Weapons with new skins and different names (and maybe new sound and visual FX) could go a long way.
