Fun Fact:Mara Sov, Queen Of The Reef(And Earth if we're being honest) , called him Mote Of Light and our "Ball" in D1
It's dumb that our ghost doesn't have a name, just like we don't have a personality

It's because just like Master Chief in Halo (Up till 3 anyways) you're meant to self insert. Chief was mostly a blank slate only speaking on rare occasions and having little personality in the games only having some in the books (Which our Guardian is the same being a blank slate most of the time in game yet having some in the lore books)

The difference is , Master Chief is the center of the story, and moves the plot forward, he has never been a background character in his own story And he does have a personality and distinct identity, and a name and background Jhon would never stand in the background watching while NPCs fought the villian , like we did in the the Echoes Finale mission, and countless other times That's because the old Bungie knew how to write the player into the story they where telling, but today's Bungie , just uses our characters has a plot device for the real characters

Bungie only gave him a name outside of the games and it wasn't till their was a fight between writers in Halo 3 (There were multiple writers trying to write their own story which is why we got a mess of one which also has caused issues to this day such as if Chief should have personality or go back to Halo 2, if Forerunner are human or a different species, etc) where he was really given a personality.
