It came back because player numbers and playtime numbers were at an all time low. Nobody playing means no money for Bungo or Sony. They want you to spend as much time on the game as possible so it looks good to the higher ups. Literally no other reason as to why it returned.

  •
That’s funny because it makes me want to play a lot less
Yet you're playing and doing activities that award pinnacles. So it's a self control issue you're really trying to point out or maybe even acknowledge to yourself because you may be in denial? What activities are you barred from if you don't do pinnacle activities?

So GMs, Master Raids and Master Dungeon. That's it. Everything else you can do in the game. Without pinnacle cap. You can keep playing the same stuff you did last Act. And you have 4 months.

  •
So GMs, Master Raids and Master Dungeon.
AND trials of Osiris and every single master/expert activity which includes: •Raids •dungeons •nightfalls •lost sectors •cooperative focus campaign missions •Onslaught •battlegrounds •dares of eternity •weekly missions •exotic missions Take into accounts that light level is purely RNG based because of drop rates,to put into perspective you could be so unlucky that you could grind every single pinnacle and powerful for the entire episode/season that you run the possibility of never reaching pinnacle power.

  • Some people can be really unlucky but I don’t see that happening. I run 3 characters. I’ve never had a problem of hitting pinnacle cap by the end of the 4th or 5th week. That’s without running every little pinnacle activity either. I’m convinced a majority of the people who whine about the power grind really don’t know how to do it efficiently.

Which you also shouldn't be able to do immediately Lost sectors - people in this thread have been doing them regardless of there level Coop Focus - Only one I agree with since it's needed for Guardian Rank Onslaught - Again. Higher tiers. You shouldn't be able to just JUMP right into it. Battlegrounds? - which ones? Old ones are now strikes and should be in the same category as strikes. So look above. Weekly missions - Same as co-op. There is literally no reason to run the but the one that has the pinnacle and even then it's 2015. If you struggle at 5 under, there's something wrong with you. Exotic missions? - You need 2015 so again if you struggle at the level you are now from just playing naturally, that's a you problem. Also you haven't even TRIED to grind for Pinnacle. Highest character is 2007. The most difficult things in this game shouldn't be able to be done immediately. If you hate the grind, then you should go to a different game if you want to be able to do things immediately. You can hate the WAY we grind. I agree with that but you not wanting to grind in the first place is the issue. You always had to grind. Whether that be weapons, armor, to get builds etc. To reject that is rejecting how the game is designed. You're the problem.

  • Why would I try to grind when it’s pointless? It’s going to get reset again, and every fun activity will keep me 30 levels lower. You don’t get it do you? I don’t want to mindlessly grind out power levels I want to have FUN playing the game.

Because that's the point of the game your playing and how it's been for years. It's like you JUST starting playing the game. AND YOU DON'T GET TO JUST DO THE HIGHER ENDGAME STUFF. 90% OF THE GAME DOESN'T NEED LIGHT LEVEL. I genuinely want to ask WHICH activities do you consider fun. If any of them ISN'T master content then your complaint is null and void

  • I thought the point of videogames was to have fun and to play them, mindlessly grinding an RNG based stat sounds like torture if you ask me,if you love power grinding so much then maybe bungie should make it optional so everyone can choose to do it.

So why are you complaining about pinnacle grinding when it's optional to you? You can already do the things you want to do. It doesn't affect you at all. IT IS OPTIONAL to you. You don't NEED to be pinnacle capped. And people that WANT to be pinnacle cap and treat it as chilling as a completionist thing they CAN do if they want to. You're upset that it's not optional when it is.

Then you have an entitled attitude and are unironically the type of player of "Destiny players when they have to play the game". You shouldn't be able to get into the Pinnacle of difficultly just because you find the grind annoying and tedious. How's about we change the WAY we get to pinnacle cap by getting rid of RNG and being able to choose your slot so that people don't waste their time. Like getting rid of power level is a drastic thing to do and ruined the game for a lot of people. Adding a healthier leveling system is needed. And you're really going to BS me and say that you're going to start doing harder content that requires Pinnacle cap now? Yeah BS. You didn't even do the content that requires Pinnacle cap even when you didn't have to grind for levels. So don't lie to me. And even then you should be grateful that you can even get the Pinnacle cap without touching endgame. Most game have their best in slot items inside the hardest activities. This game does not. And people use party finder and meet up with randoms every week to get their weekly clears for the current hard content. So many of you players are taking the freedom you have to play your own way for granted.
Sorry to tell you this but I have some master clears on different pieces of content and I love doing lost sectors. Hell I did a ton of dares of eternity too. Just get real honey.
Some. Which means you don't regularly do them for fun. You always had to grind to get them done. So when you were able to do them, why didn't you play them over and over when you didn't need to get pinnacle cap? Oh yeah. Because you're lying. You have 3 master clears for dungeons at most. Lost sectors. You can do them right now to your heart's content. Really. Nothing is stopping you from entering them. And if you're not looking for the difficulty of lost sectors, you can just .... run them. Normally. Again people have already done them in your replies. So you also do Dares of Eternity on Expert? For fun? You can also do that right now. It's 2015. And if you struggle at 2007. There is something wrong. EDIT: WAIT YOU DID DO LOST SECTORS ON EXPERT. Your lost sector point is invalid. And anything you did that's expert or lower, you CAN do. You didn't even have to grind for that. Why are you complaining? Your problem is not grinding levels itself. We can agree that grinding level sucks in general. That's why they need to change it and not get rid of it. You should not be able to get to higher end difficulty activities when you log in. You have to earn it. That's how the game has been structured for years. You are part of the 10% of people that don't understand this common sense. You can do lower end stuff that you like to do and have artifact level carry you until you're ready to take on harder activities.
Ngl dude, you’re just upset and I can tell,it’s okay to be upset, you can feel big boy feelings.
Don't deflect on me. I can say the exact same thing to your original post.
To my own shame I could NOT clear those lost sectors this episode because of my light level,so I gave up.
The light level wasn't the reason you couldn't do it. Why are you blaming the game? There are people in the replies that have done it. They understand that when they play the game they don't just immediately deserve to get into higher end content. You're complaining about something that has been the same since it's inception. You always have to grind for lost sectors because of artifact level. So if you were willing to grind lost sectors for expert or master, you were willing to at the very least grind XP to be able to get into them and complete them My question is do you play the game for difficulty? Do you find the difficulty in this game fun? Edit: I just did a master lost sector (2040) 30 levels below on my first try. It's not power that's the issue. it could be your loot. The fact that you're playing hunter that has little to no survivability. Your weapons. Not taking cover. Also you only tried once and gave up. And you're blaming the game. Wild And then your gonna hit me with "well I shouldn't have to have the best of the best stuff to be able to do the HARDEST activities" like most entitled people on here.

  • you know what’s crazy? I’m not bad at the game, you’re criticizing gameplay you haven’t even seen. And who cares if other people have cleared it,I’ve gone flawless in trials a bunch I’ve cleared a ton of high difficulty content overall, the fact is that power grinding is not fun,it is pointless and tedious,it does nothing but hinder the game. You’re out here defending what’s basically an annoying chore for what? How does it affect you? It’s annoying dude,I’ve cleared this kind of content before a whole lot, hell you can look at my triumphs,I just want the freedom of enjoying content without having to grind out a number every season. I genuinely can’t wrap my head around WHY anyone wants power levels in the game. At this point you’re just harassing me because you already stated your opinion multiple times but at the end of the day your opinion is senseless,if you want to do pointless chores for an imaginary number that makes it so you can do content then so be it but me personally? I could care less about it,I just want to have fun and I want to get loot.

  • The PL grind is easier than ever. Your PL is account wide (sharing the level of armor makes it even easier). And now there’s shared power level in a fireteam. It’s literally never been easier.
