From one "The Owl House" fan to another, this was a great read. I agree with everything you have stated on why Belos is the worst and best written villain in cartoon history. Something I want to add that makes Belos an even worse villain/person, is the fact he wants to kill all non-humans, when in fact, he isn't even human himself anymore. Belos' final words to Luz are, "You'll be just as bad, just as conniving, just as evil, and just as unforgivable as those witches! We're human. We're better than this!" and he says this while he is a pile of magic goo. His true form is revealed to the audience to be long-limbed, gooey, skeleton-like, antlered, monster. From all the years of abusing the glyphs on his body. The irony!

 • Oh yeah, there are so many other facets to Belos' character I could write essays on! There's what Belos says about racism--that for all his touting about humanity's superiority to witches, he's spent decades literally living off of magic, and threw away his humanity to destroy the people he considered to be "lesser". An essay on his rise to power, and what it says about politics and religion could be a pretty interesting thing to put together--though it obviously couldn't be posted here. And then there's also how he evolved as a villain throughout the show--from being the unseen mastermind behind the scenes, to his reveal as the genocidal pure evil monster he is, to how his tactics change when he's knocked off his pedestal. And those are just the essays I could write about Belos, let alone the rest of the show! The best part about the scene you pointed out, is that isn't even the depth of the irony! In that moment, Luz was exactly what Belos claimed to be; a human who could speak with the Titan. By all accounts, she was carrying out the Titan's will by fighting Belos. It's great. I will say, however, while I do consider Belos to be the most evil villain I've ever seen, I'm a bit more hesitant to say he was the best written. He's definitely up there, for sure, but it's just not as easy of a choice. It's hard to compare him to, say Amon from Korra; a villain who does have a more legitimate and sympathetic reason behind his evil actions. Or, Darcy from Amphibia, who is firstly aiming for a totally different vibe, but also just has a twinge of tragedy to her just by existing. Or, heck, even within The Owl House itself, it's really hard to say that Belos is better written than the Collector. Belos was very meticulous and pure evil in his actions, while the Collector legitimately did not understand why what he was doing was wrong, and it's hard to say either one is better written than the other. That said, if I were being put at gunpoint and told to make a list of what villains I'd consider to be the best written, Belos would definitely be right up near the top. Top 10 definitely, and most likely top 5!
