Making bird friend would be great, but unfortunately the bird is being controlled by an evil meanie with magic. Making it fall down a hole is actually not that dissimilar from what I wound up doing. They essentially just pushed it down a hill. And, like, it's fine, but winning against a bird because of gravity feels weird. Like, it's justified by them disorienting it first, but even so, it's still weird.
