"Backe watsch" - this is the tag you chose right?
Tell people what this means.
"One example. There was/is a perk reducing flinch when you're under fire. The German translation amounted to "reduces flinch when you are shooting", which is completely wrong, pretty much the opposite of what the perk does and the original (English) description says and so grossly misleading that it makes people either apply it for the wrong reason or not at all".
So, what's the example? What perk? What's the Deutsch description?
Deutsch translations are lacking everywhere... but to call it "awful". I'd like to see an example in Deutsch, and I'll try to find it. We can go through it word by word and let's actually see if there could be a better description.
Regardless, the game must be in a pretty great spot... if these are the complaints. Is it awful? Is it really?

Edited by Shuyahh: 5/2/2024 2:58:49 PMYou're asking for an example when I gave it right there? You also don't seem to speak German at all ("Deutsch description" - what garbage is that?). I don't owe you a literal quotation. If at all, I'd owe it to Bungie in case they'd ask me for exact evidence. I'll give you one anyway: "No Distractions - Aiming this weapon for a short time reduces flinch". "Keine Ablenkungen - Zielen mit der Waffe reduziert Zucken". A better description would be: "Verreißen der Waffe unter Beschuss wird nach kurzem Zielen verringert". That's pretty much the perfect German wording for what this perk is doing. Here's another one: E: "Fynch - Conscientous Objector" D: "Fynch - gewissenhafter Verweigerer" This one is actually quite ridiculous, since the German translation has nothing to do with what the English says. The correct term would be "Gewissensverweigerer" or officially correct German "Verweigerer aus Gewissensgründen". I should have let you guess the proper translations, because I am pretty sure you wouldn't be able to produce them even if you knew German. I leave finding the proper translation of "Backewatsch" to you. The point of this thread is to criticize German translations in Destiny, not to create the encyclopedia of design and quality failures, questionable decisions by Bungie regarding Destiny etc. etc. It is therefore rather polemic and off the rails to conclude from German translations in Destiny being criticized to the game being in a great spot overall, and you'd know better if you had bothered to look into a few more feedback posts of mine. I also don't quite get what some gamer tag used for this account has to do with all this. As far as I can see, the thread author given here is "Shuyahh". How good a shape Destiny is in is told by the Final Shape preorder numbers. They are abysmal, particularly when compared to earlier major Destiny DLCs' preorder numbers. Bungie's management has received a resounding slap in the face by the Sony manager responsible for Bungie now; Maybe you have missed out on that. Bottom line: Destiny players are sick and tired of the course Destiny has taken over the last years, and so is Sony.

Edited by jhermannITJ: 5/2/2024 3:18:29 PMSo, what's the perk? What's the Deutsch description? Why are you getting so aggro? It's almost like you have an agenda with this post. If you want things to get better, let's work on a solution. What's the perk and description in German also called "Deutsch". Then we'll compare that with the English description to see how it could be better, yeah? 😇 👍💠 The gamer tag you chose on 2 platforms is totally relevant. It's German... tell people what it means. Edit: You're adding major edits, now we're getting somewhere. I would contend that they're pretty good... the tooltips in English are often ambiguous too... and then they're translating or localizing from that - from descriptions that often aren't totally clear. Even in the examples you gave it's pretty close. So, is that "awful"... or is that hyperbolics? 😉 Imo, seems nitpicky. And why won't you tell people what your tag means in English 😜. I'm not going to spoil it, I want you to give the "perfect" translation for it. "Gewissenhafter Verweigerer" ... just to clarify to others, there's formal and informal... the quote above is perfectly fine for "Conscientous Objector". I wish you would have had me do it. It's certainly not "awful" in either example given.

"Gewissenhafter Verweigerer" does not exist in my language. In German, it's called "Wehrdienstverweigerer". Which, sounds a lot more elegant and straight.
-
Your language? It does it exist, that's what it means. And sure, maybe there were better options... but it's perfectly valid, certainly not "awful".
-
It should be for those - who speak the language -, coherent translated. Which is, absolutely, not the case with a fantasy like Gewissenhafter Verweigerer. A "construct" like this is missing its purpose. Maybe you want to see for yourself: conscientious objector

Gewissenhafter It is. 😇 👍💠 & still not "awful".

Haha... No, it's not. No worries!

Edited by jhermannITJ: 5/2/2024 7:26:21 PMIt is. Cleary it is. Gewissenhafter Verweigerer
