I have been a good customer and watched a streamer yesterday as Bungie reckons this game should be enjoyed. I find interesting how dried content periods seem to affect players’ judgment, because honestly what I saw was just the same ol’ same ol’. It’s free content, ok. But what I watched didn’t make me want to play, at all. I spoke with a few friends who stopped playing too. Everyone watched some streams, nobody played. Guess it’s a win for Bungie’s vision of Destiny. A game that is watched rather than played.

  • I’m right there with you. My raid team dissolved after Lightfall landed like a wet fart and I saw 2 of the guys online yesterday. One played Onslaught and was so-so on it and the other didn’t touch it. I did one 50 wave loop but nothing felt terribly interesting. I’m still just chucking nades and supers down hallways. And I think for lapsed veteran players most of us have vaults bursting with god rolls, so what’s the incentive to get virtually the same guns again. I think it’s a bigger win for newer players but for me I’ll be going back to spreading managed democracy

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. Especially the “chasing god rolls” part. I personally find no incentive whatsoever anymore. The difference between the latest meta ultimate heavy DPS and the many I have in stock is probably of 2% max. I’ll add that even if it was 20% more powerful, I played this game long enough to never underperform, even when I’m not on a DPS only role so it doesn’t really matter to players who have extensive knowledge and experience playing this game. What I need is not weapons, or new ways to kill the same enemies, but a new universe to unveil inside the game. The taken king saga was an amazing addition. Since then, the only part of the game that I enjoy, even if not equally, are the dungeons. Not even the raids anymore, since their magic is gone and replaced by some “look at me I got the exotic or god roll” satisfaction. I don’t know about you, but I think I just played this game too much. GMs used to be an aspect I liked, but even those lost their charm. Anyway. I’m glad other players share similar feelings. I hope Bungie and Sony can share resources, not just managers. I genuinely hope that Sony studios will work with Bungie to release a 3rd opus that will turn the upcoming epilogue into a prologue to the one and only game I really loved.

  • Agree but I don’t think it’s a matter of playing too much… Destiny just lost its “ space magic”. Every nerf, the content vaulting debacle , the manipulation of the meta each season to create content out of thin air, the repetition of the same old reskin, reuse, run it backward, the random story continuity, every poor decision by management has killed the fantasy. It’s just boring.

  • I very much agree. I was trying to put the blame on my addiction to this game. However I can hardly deny that the dealer helped me quit by charging more and more for lower quality entertainment.
