If quitting is that bad then that's not going to discourage it. It might even encourage it so something larger would have to be done like changing Comp up, maybe in terms of the modes people are playing.

The people that leave/ lag out/ get booted that is up to bungie as to punish them. But the players that continue to try to win should not be losing upwards of 200 rank points for playing 2v3 or 1v3. In my opinion they should be locked out of the 3v3 game mode for at least a day if they leave.

You shouldn't be losing that much, you're right. But people knowing that its not going to "hurt" anyone for them to quit will just make some people quit more. It just seems like something more would need to be done if its something that happens that often. A lot of people quit after losing the first round but, generally if there's enough people playing and you're the one getting those people on your team a lot that's not a good sign. Now there's just not enough people playing and just changing that probably won't make enough of a difference to really do anything.
