Stompees before the nerfs began were hands down the Best PvP exotic for hunter.
Hunters are already the best movement class and It increased the Hunters base movement kit up by another level.
Acceleration in the air, jump height, slide, distance. Stompees were definitely a problem and probably one of the reasons AE was created.

Currently all of Stompees nerfs have been reverted but currently Stompees aren't performing as well as they did in the Beyond Light era.
Hunters are already the best movement class and It increased the Hunters base movement kit up by another level.
I don’t see why that’s a problem. It’s the same confusion I have with people who whine about Titans being able to tank one extra hit by using an overshield. Like, yeah. That’s the point of the class. Hunters are mobile and Titans are tanky.

Hunters literally have the worst movement of all classes without stompees equipped…
-
In general, Hunters have better: 1) Jump acceleration 2) Strafe speed 3) On top of Hunter Dodge Titans and Warlocks (with certain abilities) have better straight-line movement. That's it. It seems like all you value is straight-line speed from A to B...
-
The Hunter Jump provides the best in air control for combat along with their class ability being the dodge makes them the optimal Duelist especially for M&K as they are able to run, slide, jump and dodge around cover more effectively while shooting. Compared this to Titan and Warlock they have strong movement in covering long distances but to have movement equivalent to the hunter dodge they must play specific subclasses (Icarus Dash & Thruster). Both Warlock and Titans have glides and not jumps, glides are not as effective in duels simply because they require momentum to be as effective as the hunter jump which without movement can be used without momentum buildup to "juke" other players. This is without including other movement abilities they get that they can combo with their jump and dodge like Shatterdive, shadow dive and two strand grapples

Edited by Nimune: 12/3/2023 10:55:31 PMThey reverted previous nerfs, and implemented a new nerf.
-
What's the new nerf?
-
Edited by Nimune: 12/3/2023 11:07:19 PMLateral acceleration nerf. That is why Stompees feel so slow and sluggish now. Could be even something more that was left unsaid.
-
I put it on yesterday and thought maybe I was nuts thinking I didn't feel the speed increase
-
Yeah seems fair

It's just another thing they done to dumb and slow the game down. They make movement worse, they add more options to heal, overshields are all over the place, abilities have been made worse, armor mods are a joke compared to previous version. It's just bad decision after bad decision. Stompees were never OP, they were good and they made gameplay fun. As did many other things. But apperantly they want to make this like every other average shooter where movement is like driving a train, and it's just makes it a bad game. And it shows in numbers. I just don't get it whey they keep digging the hole deeper.
-
Nah man they were OP hence why you want them back to their Original state, we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I also don't agree with that gameplay getting dumb down and worse. The addition of the newer abilities such as Overshields and Healing can be an annoyance but they also provide more gameplay options which is never bad thing. They're still working on the PvP sandbox though and it has gotten better season to season. If you're not enjoying the game stop playing

Edited by Nimune: 12/3/2023 11:49:52 PMI get it, you are warlock main with 0.83 kd. You have most kills with shotgun, then with super, closely followed with melee kills. That tells me you're not very good at the game. As said, the exotic isn't the issue, you and people like you are the issue. Get good, learn how to look up. Also it hasn't gotten better season by season, everything has gone horribly wrong with their decisions ever after the 30th anniversary.
-
Never said I was a PvP main, you can try and shame me all you want doesn't change the fact that your wrong. Even the best players in the game knew it was a problem it was the best PvP exotic for Hunters.
-
Not a single person in the top 1% that I know of advocated for a nerf to stomps, but ok.
-
Edited by Nimune: 12/3/2023 11:32:41 PMThe "best" players pretty much agree that there was nothing wrong with them to begin with. The less skilled players (or some warlock main at Bungie) thought there was an issue. I don't mean to shame you, my point is that you might not have sufficient knowledge of this issue. And if you're not a pvp main, why do you even care?
-
I play PvP casually and I spend most of my time in it near the end of seasons. There was a problem dude you just don't want to admit that but I'm done having this conversation so... Yes you are right and the developers who created the game and see all the metrics are wrong.
-
Edited by Zodleon: 12/5/2023 7:10:48 PM
Yes you are right and the developers who created the game and see all the metrics are wrong.
I guarantee you with the lack of foresight they have shown consistently this is not the hill you want to die on.

It's one thing to see the metrics, and other thing to have a good understanding what needs to be done if something needs to be done. Just because something is popular, doesn't always mean it is also over powered. It could just be the way people enjoy playing game. Bad players in general shout out that every random thing should be nerfed. In the end, they are still bad players and would lose to a good player even after all the nerfs. Why take away the fun gameplay to cater casuals and their demands to slow things down? It will just drive the invested players away.
