I think a better solution would be to remove Rift from Comp and leave it solely as a 6v6 mode and ONLY on bigger maps that suit the game mode.
I think a better solution would be to remove Rift from Comp and leave it solely as a 6v6 mode and ONLY on bigger maps that suit the game mode.
The current set of competitive modes that emphasize both team play and individual skill (solo gun skill) is closely tied to the competitive divisions. It is intended to prevent the creation of isolated groups of PvP pro players, which could easily happen if the comp algorithm explicitly evaluates and rewards individual game performance - without the teamwork component, mainly solo players would be encouraged, making the competitive field more lopsided and elitist. This is, of course, a matter of perspective. That said, I think introducing expanded abilities for the Spark Carrier in Rift could still be a meaningful improvement, regardless of whether the mode stays in the competitive playlist or becomes a standalone mode. It would increase the dynamics of the game and encourage players to develop new strategies. Rift already has its raison d'être, so it would be difficult to remove the mode completely. However, Bungie could introduce a window of time when Rift would appear less frequently in the rotation of game modes. Players who don't like Rift at all could try to play at those times. Otherwise, two other options remain: 1. look for teammates who like Rift: it's always helpful to have a team that shares the same goals. If you could find teammates who enjoy Rift and are good at it, it might take some of the pressure off of having to play Rift. 2) Train and improve in Rift mode: Sometimes the modes we like the least are the ones where we can improve the most. With a little practice, players like you might find more fun in Rift.
