Meh…the point of the node is just to guild conqueror, beyond that, you are supposed to only be able to do the weekly nightfall.
The reason for this is that if what you suggested were true, people would only ever play the easiest GM to get their loot.

I was on board with that explanation when it first came out, but now that they've changed the easier strikes to make them closer to the rest in terms of length/difficulty, I feel like having the node permanently would be fine. They could also make it so if you use the node to play a different strike than the weekly one you can't get the weekly adept weapon or something, idk.
