Dark souls 3 ending is more satisfying than the ringed city is in terms of the story. Also if not for nostalgia ringed city areas wouldn’t be as awesome.

I might agree with the thing about the ending if the Soul of Cinder wasn’t such a stupid final boss. Like, it just really ruins the big narrative payoff of fighting our way there only to find some generic bloke standing in our way and have the game yell out “NoW yOU HavE tO fIghT dA pLaYerZzzzZzZ!!!!”. I actually think the bits of TRC appealing to nostalgia are its weakest bits. I really love the general aesthetic of the place.

So played through TRC. Enjoyed it but preferred the original ending. Played through DS1 and DS2 and new game + DS3 TRC and holy blam was it so much cooler.

The original ending is indeed quite nice, it’s just hard for me to get over Soul of Cinder. He just really ruined the whole story. At least it was only one lame final boss, though, and not three. *glares at Elden Ring*
