Yeah, remove power levels so there’s nothing to do and no reason to play for 90% of the community so the game dies. Why do people not get this. If you remove power level grinding each season there is no reason to do 90% of the game for most players and it will die out.

This is a risk of removing leveling up. Going to be interesting to see what bungie comes with to minimize it.
-
They won’t come up with anything. Next season will just be a lesson to players who have been asking for this as to why it doesn’t happen.
-
Lol That's one way to look at it. We'll see. I think they will come with a new carrot for people to chase.
-
We’ll see.

Good. That artificial incentive. If you can't make a game with actual gameplay, then you fake it with levels.
-
That’s how games work these days. You may not like it but what other reason would there be to com back every week beyond the story which takes almost no time to do? Why play strikes, or crucible, or anything? Many games use a seasonal level increase to direct players into all facets of the game.
-
Then it's a bad game. If the only thing to do for 90% of players is to grind out an arbitrary number on their screen, the game is bad. Why do people not get this?
-
Most dont get it because it's not true. Most games have players grind to some arbitrary thing to achieve something in game, that doesnt mean the game is bad. The gameplay loop just varies based on the type of game it is. In the case of destiny, the loop is get higher to do 'harder' activities. If the leaks are true and they are doing away with that loop, then they are going to have to interject a new loop to keep people playing.
-
This dude said it was 90% of the reason for most players. That is nowhere near the arbitrary grind other games have. It 100% is true as he said it. If 90% of the game is a pointless grind, it's a bad game. Especially considering a large part of that game is content that hasn't even been updated. Gambit. Strikes. Freaking bounties.

Edited by whateverman7: 3/30/2023 4:58:13 PMYou do know that 90% was pulled out his -blam!- right? lol. His number is a number he made up to make his point. While i dont agree with his number, i understand his point and agree there are some that play the game cause of the grind. My disagreement with what you said is that means it's a bad game just cause that's why some play it. I dont think the majority play the game for the reason he stated.

Why do you not get that the game has lived on with that system so then players do like that system. Hell most of them don’t do raids or GMs and don’t actually need to chance that level but they do. Clearly they like chasing the pinnacle cap. Next season will show it, it’ll have a way faster drop off of players and it’s gonna be really bad for the game if they don’t increase pinnacle.
-
Players have been very open with the fact they don't like it, and Bungie has been very clear they don't like how it gatekeeps content.
-
I mean the gatekeeping really has nothing to do within it. They removed pinnacle requirement from GMs and nothing else keeps you locked out so that’s not relevant. And content players aren’t going to speak up. They’re happy. So you’re going to hear a vocal minority. Plenty of which don’t do the end game content even when they do reach pinnacle but only play for pinnacles.

Why don't either side of the aisle get that it's subjective? People play for different reasons.
