This is the part that is wrong with the game.
F powerlevel.
The deltas area good addition (though imo legend could go half a step downwards), it was stupid being able to overlevel master in the past.

Over levelling content is a staple of RPG games. It’s pretty much the entire point of levelling - to get more powerful

You really couldn’t though. Your gear was still capped. Master was usually 20 levels above that.

I would typically start farming master at 5-10 below the activity level, which took almost the entire season for me to get to... Was easy to just find 2 randoms and farm ascendant shards/prisms/exotics/NF weapons, especially on double nightfall rewards weeks... Never gave a crap about GMs and adept weapons since barely better to start with... Legend was my go to until I was less underleveled to do masters instead. Now both will be more of a drag to run with randoms... Making ressources harder to acquire for the average player. Regardless, very glad I'm stocked up on prisms and shards from last season, looking at you postmaster! 😊
