I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan, but I enjoy the movies. I’m about 3 hours into the game. Your review rings true with what I’ve experienced so far.
A lot of stuff feels average (occasionally bad), but it’s the amount of detail and beauty in the world that really elevates it and keeps me excited to play. It feels alive, like I’m walking around inside one of the movies. There are so many intriguing places to explore.
I’ve seen some video clips of people chaining spells in cool ways, so I’m keen to master the combat, even if it feels a little clunky at first.
Personally, a 7 feels too stingy and an 8 feels too generous, so I’d go with a 7.5 so far. I’m hoping as it builds it will become an 8 or above - it’s certainly got the potential.
Great review by the way! Nicely written. 👍
Thanks. I am enjoying it still at 10 hours, I just think there were opportunities that could have distinguished it a little more in terms of gameplay features. The rpg mechanics feel shallow- however as I said coming off of playing souls-likes makes you feel spoiled for that sort of thing.

Are you going to write an update once you’ve completed the story?

That depends, If the game holds my attention; maybe.
