New Trials Card / Passage (Idea for Casuals)
So I was thinking of a way to make Trials more accessible to casual players while keeping the prestige element of going flawless for more hardcore players. What I came up with is this; What if Bungie added a new passage named [b]"Passage of Certainty."[/b]
With this passage you will be able to go to the lighthouse regardless of how many losses you have on your card, however, [u]there's a catch.[/u] [b]Using this passage will forfeit all cosmetic rewards including Ships, Sparrows, and the glow on Trials armor, but it still allows you to receive all loot that is non-cosmetic. [/b] The card will also only be used once a week, breaking once you go to the lighthouse. However, if you play and win 7 games regardless of losses the card will be fixed and allow you to use it once more.
This way the more casual players will have a good chance for loot and an incentive to play and the hardcore players will still have prestigious rewards that don't affect gameplay.
I think this would be a good compromise, but I haven't thought it through much. Input from both casual/hardcore players would be nice.

Honestly, I think it's a decent idea. Trials is definitely supposed to be the endgame, but it does create frustration for the rest of the community. Idea I've been mulling around with for a while is creation of a Casual and Comp Trials playlist. Casual playlist is freelance, and light doesn't matter, whereas comp is teams only and light does matter. There would also be a rotation of game modes weekly, and modifiers daily. In this case, modifiers would be limiters. No supers, no specials, no heavys. That sort of stuff. Game modes for comp would be the usual control and clash, however casual. has a chance to have mayhem, momentum, rift and scorched for a round. For rewards, drops as usual. As well as a return of trials tokens (bear with me on this one). 7 wins grants access to the lighthouse. Here you get extra rewards, and access to the forge to use tokens collected to craft trials weapons. A flawless passage allows you to upgrade the weapon to a flawless version. If a flawless comp passage is gained, players can go to a lift that takes them to the top as well as other rewards. This chest drops guaranteed high stat armor, and an extra guaranteed flawless weapon, as well as a chance for cosmetics.

Also double rep permanently, losing with no wins on the card gives a minimum of 50 rep. Wins have a 50% chance of dropping older trials gear from previous seasons, and match completions have a 25% chance of dropping trials engrams.

this new meta of using casual for bad players is sad , but yeah at this point bungie should remove lose from passage and make the mode more noob friendly

19 RepliesOr you remove the flawless pool and get to work like everyone else. Trials isn't meant to be easy. If anything this should drop your reward after turning it in to Saint in the tower instead and not go to the Lighthouse.

Edited by CORPERATE COMMANDER: 11/6/2022 10:50:12 AMPretty decent idea tbh sadly it will get downvoted by the same gatekeepers that have helped ruin trials from day one Because they are too simple minded to realise more players in trials would potentially mean newer maps newer loot and a good way for sweats to still farm weapon rolls. only response you'll get is you want a hand out when that's not what you asked for ,all because they are scared that you'll have the same gun as them if trials was really to do with skill someone haveing the same gun wouldn't make a difference but we are talking to a community that thinks trials requires skill when it doesn't even implement sbmm Or easiest option leave it to die like it has been such low numbers for a playlist that elitist think is fine 😆 🤣

7 RepliesI have never played Trials, but not cause of the going flawless part. It's the insanely low rep points gains. I wanna be able to reset rank in a reasonable time, like I am with Vanguard playlist. Also, weapon drops need to be reasonable. Leave the adept weapons and lighthouse stuff for players that are really into pvp. However, if you want the rest of us to serve as cannon fodder and fun providers for them, make that SH worth it, a lot! Let the regular weapons and armor rain down on us.

I think the best way that doesn’t offend the sweat players by making light house stay exclusive for flawless card,but for casual players still wanna taste that adept weapon by making 7 wins you’ll be able to buy one per week from saint-14

1 ReplyOP: a good idea…though flawed, ie, not ‘flawless’… As a longtime member of the 0.3% Tortoise club, and one who is partial to Trials loot, reaching the Lighthouse is way down on my list. If I really, really wanted to go there, I’d use a popular booster service - y’all know it, it’s ads appear on popular U-tuber vids…but that’s not what I want from Trials…it never was. What I really want is a fair scrap against players within my own (lack of) skill bracket, ie, Division 4, let’s say. Another way to think about this is like coloured belt ranks in martial arts. I’m a yellow belt PvP player…I should be scrapping other white / yellow belts until I hit a predetermined threshold, then I get to fight yellow / orange belts…and so on, as far as I can go…up to the higher tiers, ie, the darker colour belts. The key point being - I keep playing the game…and will naturally improve over time, and advance. What keeps me playing is getting the bounties done, getting the gear and other loot, but done against players at my level in a fair fight on a level playing field! That’s all any of us Casuals want - a fair fight! It’s not rocket science! 👈 What I won’t do is be fodder for stacked, gilded stomper teams who should not even be allowed anywhere near me at my yellow belt level! These are the same trolls who infest the comments with their usual ‘Git gud, Skrub!’ and other puerile comments. Think about the Karate Kid movie, both versions were good; these trolls are akin to the bully-boys depicted in those movies. 🙄 That said, as an 0.3% tortoise, I’ve got just about every PvP ‘must have’ toy, got lots of the gear too, and if something catches my eye or a triumph (maybe) needs doing, I’ll maybe enter the current arena…though I know it ain’t gonna be fun. Otherwise, I’ll stay away and pootle away in other areas of the Destiny universe. I have suggested, as have many others, remove the ‘No lose’ aspect from the card…and accumulate 7 wins to get to the Lighthouse. I still advocate for that, as it would immediately repopulate Trials…and the Casual Brigade would simply grind it out…even in this current, stomp fest mode… I do think ‘Flawless’ runs deserve ‘Black Scarab’ emblems and gear, to keep them satisfied. But what would be even better is to have Division 1 teams / solo players match each other and duke it out. The last man / team standing for that Trials week, gets their name(s) etched indelibly on The Wall of Fame in the Tower. 👻 But, for all of the a/m to happen, we need a League Table + separate Divisions / Tiers…and a level playing field upon which to play, to have a fair fight…and some fun, too! 🫡 If not, winter’s coming… ❄️🐲❄️ Cheers!
