How Trials could be fixed

[i]*Remember, what is stated below is my take on potential solutions to fix Trials. If you have any other views on this topic that’s totally fine.[/i] 1. Make Freelance Trials permanent like it is in the glory playlists. 2. Keep regular Trials as is, but make freelance somewhat more skillbased (0.3’s shouldn’t match up against 2.5+ kd’s, everyone should have a fair shot at reaching the lighthouse). Endgame PvP shouldn’t be harder to succeed in and achieve than endgame PvE for players, so make them go up against players of the same caliber as themselves, not high above/below themselves. 3. Currently Trials is suffering from people resetting their cards to stay out of the flawless pool. A potential solution for this could be to automatically put people in flawless pool who got 7 or more wins in a row (with max. 1 loss) in the Trials playlist (which then resets at the weekly reset on tuesdays). 4. Skip the control Trials labs, it invites people to camp and wait for supers (i.e titan bubble and warlock well of radiance) whilst sitting behind barricades, invis and/or crouched behind cover. What do you think needs to be done in order to fix Trials?

    Like I seen suggested. 1) remove flawless pool 2) restrict solos from joining regular mode again. 3) freelance permanent. People against this are the toxic fakes that need solos to go flawless, you know who you are.

      The Trials’ fix I would apply: Each match drops armor and weapon regardless of wins or loss. 3,5,7 completions drop double loot. Flawless pool drops additional loot each match and double-triple perks on weapons and extra mod slots on armor. Remove Freelance and make all teams and groups face each other. The modes or maps should change every day Trials is active. Reduce the cost to focus content. Any weapons on the Trials META report remain playable until the next weekend or add modifiers that help increase the loot drop for players if used during matches.

    • Nothing can fix Trials. It’s been in steady decline basically since it’s inception. Personally I’d like to see SBMM and the removal of a flawless requirement to go to the light house. But those don’t fix this mode. They’re just personal preferences for a side of the game I’d like to see literally removed completely.

      • Imo the fundamental issue is that the only meaningful loot requires flawless which I think is why most people play trials for. According to data roughly 20% can go flawless each week, and this means 80% can’t. Two things 1. The 20% can go flawless BECAUSE of the 80% played. 2. Why should the 80% play trials. Population drops and game feels harder I wouldn’t be surprised if the loss of players come from the 80% Obviously this 80/20 rule also applies to the 20%, someone can still go flawless, but games would be much harder, just like the current flawless pool. This is when the mode dies I would expect. Top players don’t play trials because they love hard games.

      • Trails - there for Hardcore player with out SBMM That room is very toxic. Honestly freelance will end disappear, as they rarely show up. Trail possible will end up disappear if going to get less people going in Honestly I don't bother with Trail Weapon as they are concente recycling weapon. Just fancy remake design. Enjoy while is last..

After all, why can only the people who are good at PvE get adept nightfall weapons? It's just not fair for pvp players to have to do the same difficulty as pve people.

They brought in crossplay to make the player pools bigger to improve connections. Likewise all the changes they made to Trials was to get more people playing Trials again to not only save the game mode but again improve connections. If they make Trials solo queue permanent they are basically dividing the player pool up which damages connections again. I would like the solo queue their all the time but I think it’s healthier for the game mode if they keep it once a month. 2. SBMM no matter how loose would end up cheapening flawless because the same number of people are going to get flawless but you skill level in relation to the rest of the population wouldn’t determine it. Just your skill level in relation to your skill bracket. This would mean the best of the worst players could get flawless but the worst of the best players couldn’t get flawless even though they’d beat the best of the worst. 3. People resetting cards is a problem mostly because they are carrying others. If they changed how loot is earned then resetting carries would be changed too. Say instead of the current flawless, something like only having to earn 10 wins on a card regardless of the number of losses earns you a adept weapon. 4. I mostly agree with you on this apart from it actually improves some Trials maps like Midtown. But that is more the exception rather than the rule.

              • Im not gonna lie. I open posts like these expecting absolute dogwater ideas. I agree with all of these. 1 is a must. 4 is something I've been wanting since the first time we had zones. Just yes. All the yes.

                Seems like you want to change what trials is down at the core. A hardcore PvP mode, where the best players or best teams make it to the lighthouse. Trials has been fairly hardcore for the last 7 years. They only made it more casual with freelance. I told people freelance wouldn't be for getting to the lighthouse, it's for getting triumphs done and the casual win. That's it. If you know game development so well, just make your own destiny killer with a casual trials mode? Then everyone can get their participation trophy and be happy? I'd love to play it, none of the current destiny killers do it for me.

              • How about every so often They have a pre-made bunjie loadout (locked weapons) and only about to use your class ability ( or not) for that week. That might spice things up and make it more skill based???

                • 1. Sure 2. No pve player don't get special treatment because they don't step into pvp as much. 3. No just remove flawless pool. 4. I'd rather people camp on the zone that isolates them instead of camping with pulse or scout in the back of the map.
