You purchased a License to acsses the Content. The License for Red War and Such, Expired (DCV).
It's also in the TOS of Bungie that for the Health of the game, specific content can be removed or added.
Why do people not Read the TOS?

No. They don’t read or understand.

I mean you’re not mistaken that people don’t read, but if Bungie really wants people to play destiny for the story, why not allow the playing-through of those important parts of the story. I still find it odd how we can go back in time and fight through two raids, yet cannot go back and fight ghaul, who almost wiped us out. Just seems odd lore-wise, unless of course if they just said the witness took those planets.
