The two aspects were in one subclass before so what’s the difference?

It wasn't working back then either. People just ran middle tree in hard content. Some ran bottom tree just for a good super but that was also nerfed.

How was top tree dawn not working before 3.0?

Same as now. Bungie: Be in the air! Also bungie: grounded! Of course its always fun in easy content with sunbracers.
