Warframe did this with railjack. With warframe primarily being a corridor third person shooter, adding in a space flight game mode was almost certainly going to be trash. And it was. Just like elite dangerous which was primarily a space flight simulator, they tried adding in a first person shooter element to the game with odyssey, and sure enough it was garbage. They should not do this.
