I’d say turning him into a fungus you use to bypass doors is a rather odd way to use a prominent character.
He was transforming long before the fungus was on the ship. If I recall, this was back in base D1.

From a mechanic/gameplay point of view, you're right. But I'm refering to the Egregore from a lore point of view [i](so a fungi that is able to connect individuals to the Darkness)[/i]. Yeah, you're right. He started to transform before... and the Drifter also stated that he wasn't a Cabal anymore.

That wasn’t about mechanics. It’s about importance. A main character wouldn’t turn into something like that when their arc isn’t finished. Xol did but only after his arc was done.
