What’s a void soul?
Is that the purple ball of void that chases me around corners and down halls and stuff? The thing that makes you volitile?
I know the Child is the suck suck ball, just not sure what this is…

It doesn't make you volatile, but yes, it's the same thing. First line in the description: "Cast your rift to create a Void Soul." Child of the Old Gods is the ability name - the [b]warlock themself[/b] is the eponymous "child" - but the actual thing it summons is called a Void Soul.

It's CoTOG, people are just used to saying soul because of arc soul, aka the original buddy. As a Hunter main, I'll be pretty disappointed if Solar 3.0 doesn't add a solar variant for Warlocks.

Ah! Ok then, thanks, that makes sense! Honestly, that thing sneaks up on me and next thing I know I have to either move or focus my fire on it.

It's less threatening than a Bleak Watcher (stasis turret), harder to make it do what you want, and destroyed even more easily I think.
