The update to "fix" the void soul's behaviour made it better, yes, but it was FAR from sufficient. It still gets stuck on terrain, usually if the original target dies on route, then it'll just yeet itself in a random direction instead of trying to target the next nearest enemy. But the biggest issue currently is that it simply refuses to go anywhere half the time. This is especially egregious in crucible, where I can land a headshot with a hand cannon and the void soul is somehow still not motivated to go after that target. I want it to be helping me get a kill, not flying out there when my target is already an inch from death so that I've killed it myself before the soul even gets there! How useless is that? An ability whose time to activate and travel to the enemy (if it travels at all) is longer than the average TTK with any given primary. There's no excuse for this.
It sounds fine as is, are you really asking bungie to make it work around how its supposed to work and make it more broken in PvP? If you get hit by it you will more then likely die to anyone nearby

  • It dies easier than a Bleak Watcher and is less threatening, but harder to use effectively. You literally just asked me if I'm expecting Bungie to make something work "how its supposed to work"... YES. -blam!- YES. DUH. It's pathetically weak even when it does work, if you're being owned by this thing that's on you.

As well what you are asking is to make a extremely complex AI that doesn’t even sound possible, you want to release the soul at the most convenient time for you which how tf is the game supposed to know when you want it to go out.

It's not like you have no warning that it's coming, you should be behind cover at the VERY least by the time it gets to you. If you keep moving it should deal a maximum of 22 damage to you before you're out of the area. If this thing is a menace to you in crucible, you're bad at crucible. I'm not asking for a complex AI at all. That's an idiotic assumption, frankly. The fact that you can't understand what my post is saying speaks of a tremendously poor reading comprehension. Here's the BIG COMPLEX AI I'm asking for: I shoot thing, it goes to thing. The "AI" on an arc trace or Colony grenade is comparable. It's literally the most basic AI that can be coded next to something like Bleak Watcher or Arc Soul which is just "shoot at a nearby thing." Your understanding of game development is clearly about the same as your reading comprehension: nonexistent.

And its not a matter of damage, you are in a 6v6 environment with maps made for 4v4 and are being followed and will eventually be hit with something akin to a tether that will damage you, slow you, suppress you, and weaken you. You become a sitting duck and the catch is you were just being shot by a player! So guess what happens next. The Void Soul needs a certain damage threshold in PvP and PvE to go after a target so it doesn’t go after something you hit by accident, imagine if you clean up a kill with one bullet but had a void soul, it would just launch because you shot at someone and that someone is dead now. When you have that threshold it makes sure you are really attacking someone who this ability will affect. Why are you bringing up the Arc Soul or bleak watcher? Neither are comparable to the Void soul other then they are warlock abilities and are “buddies” both those abilities fire projectiles, they are not single use or even move on their own. Telling me my knowledge on this stuff is non-existent when you literally compare two things that aren’t similar in a programming sense is hilarious

Sorry for the delay, I forgot there were idiots trying to sound intelligent at me. The only thing I'm going to address from that rambling nonsense is this: I said "NEXT TO" Bleak Watcher or Arc Soul, as in those are specifically simpler and not the same, I was not likening their AI at all. I very clearly made THAT comparison to arc traces and Colony grenades which have pathfinding, but you didn't bother to acknowledge those at all because that would require reading comprehension and doesn't fit your bullshit narrative. I'm not going to waste any more time and effort arguing with such an imbecile.

For any coder such a comparison shows more differences then similarities. Honestly dude just admit you messed up already
