Im a strikes kind of guy. As a new dad, and college student working on my 3rd degree, and as someone who has been to real life war, and been shot at both there and at home, I tend to be on the extreme end of chill, especially when I try to play videogames. I dont want to "prove myself" virtually, I dont feel the need to pretend I am a warrior for clicking buttons. Destiny, for me, has always been a casual, surface level FPS with a good sci fi explanation.
I used to be ignored in the background. No one cared about strikes. As long as they were done fast.
For the third time today, I received personal messages through xbox app, and they were all irritated and complaining that I "hog the kills" or "melt the boss" or "run too fast".
Never before...
I mean I get it, if I am standing directly in your lane of fire after you start shooting only to kill the enemy you would have killed faster if I had not been there, then yea...i am a -blam!-...but most people like that dont have any clue theyre doing it, so lay off, not everyone watches their fire lanes and avoids flagging like real life...because it isnt real...and there is no punishment or repercussion for standing directly in front of someone with a fully drawn combat bow capable of piercing 5 layers of magic space armor...
Just wonder why everyone hates being dragged through strikes...I used to get thanked for the fast carries and easy perfects. I even got invited to do nightfalls with ppl and those are fun...i like the pace and the higher body count...but I cant just go numb like I do in strikes unless were talking hero or something....those are sometimes easier than strikes.

People are angry that they can’t complete bounties. I think you’re entitled to play how you want and hate Mail is part of the game. I received it for PvP on multiple occasions (always when I’m doing well) and once in gambit for invading and getting a 4 piece after the team of 3 fumbled the previous 3 invasions (this was old style gambit). There will always be people who want to complain. However, speed running strikes is an issue I think Bungie should look at. I think bounties should all be fireteam (even match made) based and so if you speed run and kill everything then the other guy could still get bounty progress. This isn’t exactly to do with the issue but I also think volatile rounds are OP and need looking at. Never have I shot so little and killed so much as this season. I want to have strong abilities but the gun play is why I still play this game.

5 Repliessounds more like you're a jerk who likes to speedrun maps & then comes to the forums to try & garner sympathy when folks call you out for not allowing them to enjoy the content. otherwise there would be no need to even mention the vet status, or baby or the 3 degrees, etc. You woulda just said, "I like to run strikes fast, AITA here?!" not everyone likes to run through an empty map for 10 mins chasing some hallway hero who is vapourizing everything on the map. maybe folks are trying to complete bounties/achievements/etc, or maybe they just want to be able to play too. so really, the only person being toxic here, is YOU.

Shames toxicity while name is mister t baggin"

8 RepliesI speed run strikes and bag the kids who die 100 times trying to kill dregs in the corner. I suggest you do the same. Skip every part you can and bag the babies when they inevitably die, and try to melt the boss instantly while they shoot the boss with their SMG.

1 ReplyBuddy and I were working on Strikes for a bit last night. Load into two different ones where at the start our third was AFK. Guys gets kicked. Okay, cool. We get a new third. He rockets past us on a Sparrow and splats himself into a wall. And dies, of course. Buddy and I immediately went...nah. Not rezzing. We get that a lot. Our third wants to race forward past the enemies and dies. Most the time, we don't bother rezzing. If we see the rando trying to kill things and he is a bit new, yeah, we'll be nice and help him out. If you don't want to act as part of the team, don't queue.

I've started doing Legendary Nightfalls for the Vanguard bounties, simply because these seem to count as playlist activities whereas just picking a strike doesn't, and there's no matchmaking. I'm a bit underleveled to slog through the full Nightfall and because champions, namely Overload are an absolute chore this season and I can't be arsed with the hassle, but I can go through at my own pace. I honestly don't know why there isn't an option to solo Playlist strikes or even Adept or Hero Nightfalls, seems like a weird choice to me.

Edited by Azantrion: 4/6/2022 6:03:11 AMFirst thing that players need to realise is that this is a problem Bungie created. Why? A lot of the players have a full time job .. in order to participate in GM's, Raids etc they need to level up. Some (like me) level up all 3 characters. For this I need to get Pinnacles ... I have to get through strikes, nf's, gambit, crucible, Throne World, PSIOps, Wellspring, Dungeons, DOE etc JUST so that I can get my level up to do the End Game activities. Now imagine you have a full time job (with overtime), a family to take care of and getting let's just even say 1 character to that level. Then let's also not forget the side missions for Exotic Gear and Missions, Seals, triumphs etc ... So yes .. You are not to blame, your team mates are not to blame (although toxic attitudes isn't justified) but the game is not catered for people who can afford 3 hours a day (if that much). So like you and with no disrespect to my team members, but I'm going to try and get through a strike as fast as possible because I have to do 10+ other things still just so that I can participate in more content that I have paid for and would rather like to do. Edit: Have a look at the LFG groups. Due to Bungie's way of dealing with the game and levels you have groups of "must be Conqueror, KWTD, 1580+, 1.4+KD". People perceive it as toxic when in reality they are just trying to get through encounters and modes because that is how Bungie designed the game. It's a shame, because it's by Bungies own design that the community is toxic (or perceived as being toxic). Not talking about people's attitudes here .. that is a character issue.

Edited by Cobravert: 4/7/2022 1:36:25 PM
Just wonder why everyone hates being dragged through strikes
The way the Vanguard rank is progressed, other people that are running the Vanguard and Banshee (though those should be relegated to free roam activities) bounties need to be able to kill things too. If you're Mr. Gung Ho Run and Gun wrecking everything, and the other people can't either keep up, don't know the strike, then you're essentially inhibiting them from being able to complete their bounties. I personally don't pick up certain ones simply because I know I won't be able to do them when I WILL be paired with someone who is just blazing through the strike as fast as they simply can. Especially with some of the new void perks some classes are using. That's why I wish there was a solo option for them. That way you could go burn through the strike as fast as you want, and others could go get the things done they wanted to do too. When I can see that I'm getting ahead of other players, and that they're at a low season level, I slow down and wait for them. If I'm near them where they may have died, I'll go pick them up. That is WHY we're all placed on fireteams - to be COOPERATIVE. That's what too many have seemed to overlook or forget. The thing is, I can never seem to find someone who is blazing away at everything when I run the Nightfalls. It's almost always people who aren't set up for or know them. We'll get into the 90,000's, but not the 100,000 very often.

74 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 4/5/2022 4:51:51 PM
Just wonder why everyone hates being dragged through strikes..
1. Some of us actually enjoy playing the game as intended, instead of rushing through it to get to the rewards. We find actually playing the game to be relaxing and enjoyable. 2. Some of us are trying to get bounties or quest steps completed. So forcibly dragging people through the strikes and having enemies despawn in front of us or having to server-hop (Joining Allies in .....) every minute or two because we are tethered to you is disrespectful and annoying. 3. Many "speed runners" just run forward and DIE. Which in some instances actually causes team wipes, and actually makes it take longer to complete the strike compared to efficiently killing the enemy. You are getting pushback, because you are playing the game in a selfish manner. Which is your right....but then it is the right of those who don't like the fact that you are ruining their experience of the game to complain about it. At the end of the day, I realized that people who tend to do this are so self-absorbed and care so little about what they do the experience of others, that I don't even bother to pushback. When I'm paired with someone like you, I just leave the strike, go to orbit, and re-enter matchmaking. So you can ruin someone else's play experience, rather than mine.

Personally, speed runners annoy the absolute -blam!- outa me. Probably cause of that feeling that when ya fall behind ya get that “you’re not needed here, -blam!- off” kinda vibe. Even if its unintentional. And as someone whos been drilled a thousand times to move as fast as the slowest member of the fireteam, those out for run records need their own mode. Give em something to actually race for.

First as a military guy myself, Noone cares that we got shot at here or over- seas, that has 0 to do with a video game. Second, if you correlate the two, you might want to consider getting off the game. Finally, who cares. You gonna change your playstyle for others? Cause I speed through majority of stuff, they don't like it and leave then,"o well."

Like every game community is blightown, even for games that are just meant for fun there's just those jerks. Totally not me though I'm cool according to another user 😎

Ill use the metaphor of a say taking home a one night stand. While one may want to get in and get it done fast, it can often lead to the other being disappointed and wanting more.

It's because it's boring playing with people like that. And especially if you're a newer or returning player whos' readjsuting to the jank controls of this game. Try hards be like "git gud" question. How. If their pve experience is "everything's dead before I can pull a trigger" or gods forbid they into pvp and try to learn how to snipe. "oh I'm dead, oh I'm dead, oh I'm dead." There are exceptions but when I'm playing solo I generally have the most kills, part of that is because I'm fairly good at keeping on top of things, but the other main reason is everyone else says "-blam!- the ads, I'm gonna go fast!" so I'm mopping things up because if I don't EVERYONE DIES. And if I don't hang back and let the other players run ahead, 90% of the time I find my self bent over a barrel while the other two players are off having a joint break or something. Is it any reason that most players do not bother with the raid when literally nothing in the game encourages teamwork? Especially when a lot of the raid mechanics are something like "cross your eyes and lick the phalic drawing on the wall of the public toilet to activate damage phase. Everything is just *pant pant pant weeze weeze weeze* faster, faster, can't stop must go ahhhhhh!" and it makes the game really, really dull...... Honestly I miss the old strikes from D1 where they actually made you stop and deal with enemies before you could move on. I don't care they relocked the door to phogoth every gods damn time. At lest the game wasn't reduced to dropping the puddle launcher onto spawn points while you mentally afk.

I Have not Done a Single Strike since witch queen dropped 😀 Been doing all the other stuff.

Solo strikes option.

Slightly unrelated, but is nobody going to point out OP's name?

I blaze through strikes just to get them done, there is no fun in it for me (I did love d1 strikes - -blam!- trying to get hopscotch pilgrim to drop). Mind you my not so optimised build allows me to eliminate an entire room before anyone gets in it. That to me is fun - the quick movement and nuking. If however, someone put in chat they were working on a bounty, I would be more than happy to allow them the kills while I focused on keeping them alive. Simple communication - what a funny old world.

Hell no man! You're doing the right thing. Run that strike how you want. Don't waste your time for Blueberries that can't shoot. Not your problem. The problem is the structure that bungie has set up for bounties, triumphs etc. They all want just YOU to complete x thing. Yet the d2 experience is set around fireteams. Why are objectives not intuitive as a team? I personally never care about Blueberries. Complete what you need and move on. The game encourages solo play while stuck with randoms. This always confused me.

I truly don't get people that get mad enough to send hate mail over stuff like that. "hogging the kills"? You mean doing what you're supposed to do? So what, you're supposed to stand there and get shot until someone else gets the kill so their feelings aren't hurt? No, you're simply playing the game better and more efficiently than they are, so that's on them for being garbage. Same thing for "melting the boss" that's what you're supposed to do, sorry but I'm not just going to stand there while someone puts clip after clip into a boss from their little auto or pulse rifle so they feel good about themselves, use a better loadout next time so you can participate. As far as speed running a strike goes, it really depends, if you're moving fast but killing everything, that's fine, but the people that get on my nerves are those who just run past everything or try running past everything and just dying over and over again.
