The PSN linked to the Bungie profile that you are posting from, only has approximately 25min played in Destiny 2 (as this is being typed), and no deleted characters. The account has one single character in the original Destiny, which has not been played in around 5 years.
If you had in fact played Destiny 2 previously, it was not on the same PSN account that you have linked to this Bungie profile.

It was absolutely on the same PSN account, the only thing different is a psn I'd name change. I played 2 for many hours. Again, it literally shows me having a legacy, and one of the legacies shows my brothers account as an ally while beating the hive ship boss. We raided, etc. Did the queen stuff, did the iron whatever stuff. I had a warlock I played with lots of weapons, skins, ships. Etc.

I may be blending 1 and 2 together, but I'm positive I beat 2.

That legacy that you were shown upon starting up Destiny 2 for the first time on this PSN account, is referencing your Destiny 1 history. As the WoD link shows, you did play Destiny 1 on this PSN account, so you would have legacy info from that. However, this PSN account has no prior D2 history, so it could not have been on the same account if you did actually play D2 previously. You played a male Awoken Warlock in D1, and you have that character now starting their journey in D2. Whatever missions, raids, etc, you completed in D1, and whatever gear you collected there; stayed in D1. Nothing carries over between the two games, as all power levels and gear is specific to each game. The legacy info you were shown, was simply showing highlights of things you did while playing OG Destiny.

I'll dig more into it, because my memory is trash. Either that or D2 is so similar to D1 that I'm remembering where to go with stuff in maps and having weird deja vu. It's been years so honestly I have no idea now that I'm questioning my sanity.

Given that you did not play D2 during its early years, you missed out on the Red War campaign, which was the main story at launch. You’ve also missed the Curse of Osiris, and Warmind campaigns. Forsaken was the next campaign, which is currently free for all players to experience, before it is removed on February 21st. The reason why you are thinking that D2 is too similar to D1, is because the current new player quest was intentionally created to snapshot the opening to D1, for those that did not play the original game. Once you complete the Guardian Rises intro quests, you’ll then be able to dig into the D2 content.
