Yes I've done that 3 times just today and still no heart and the quest is still says forsaken required.

It is not a guaranteed drop it is random.

If you're not a new player you should be able to get started on the quest by playing Gambit. You need to get a Gambit match where the Taken Servitor is the final boss and defeat him. Unfortunately the drop you need from that boss is a random drop. So you could get lucky and get it first go or it could take multiple attempts. When he does drop the item you need it will be an exotic looking thing called the Seething Heart. You will then go to the Drifter in the Tower and he will offer you a quest called Darkness in the Light. You'll pick that up and follow the quest steps.

No. The quest and Gambit are not listed items in the content vault document for season 5, so they will stick around. If the method of obtaining the weapon were to ever be vaulted then the weapon itself would get added to the Monument to Lost Lights kiosk in the Tower so players could still obtain it for materials.
