Please don’t think me wrong, but Destiny is a strong factor in falling into depression. One might elude him or herself in thinking that it is helping, but it’s precisely the opposite.

  • Ultimately depends on the person of course. I find it the complete opposite.

One might elude him or herself in thinking that it is helping, but it’s precisely the opposite.[/quote] Agree with this 100%! I’ve been playing Destiny since the very beginning, but no longer play it exclusively (maybe an hour or two a week now, tops) and have been much, much happier when gaming because of it. I play other games and get new loot, unlock new items, etc. My time is respected, and I feel like I actually accomplished something. I don’t have to use a third-party app to gather a group of people to run the only decent content the game has to offer. I don’t get booted from a fireteam immediately after running said activity (missing out on the rewards) just because the general community is toxic. I don’t get DM’s after PvP matches filled with criticism over the loadout I ran or just outright pathetic attempts to insult me. I play Destiny, and unfortunately, like many other people, have dealt with all of those things listed above on countless occasions. I feel like I’m going through the same motions over and over with nothing to show for it other than glimmer and legendary shards. I feel like I grind for the perfect roll on weapons over and over but they never drop. And if they do, those weapons are “sunset” only to be reskinned and reintroduced to us months later. I feel like every raid I run is a monumental waste of time because the rewards are underwhelming, and the rewards you really want are locked behind RNG when they should be quest-based or tied to flawless runs or completions on harder difficulties. With all that said, depression is obviously a serious issue most likely stemming from real-life troubles, adversities and/or traumatic experiences. Not a video game. But for me, when I’m having one of those days and just want to escape, I’ve found that other games have brought my spirits up more so than Destiny. Destiny no longer checks that box for me, and with the direction the franchise is going, it probably never will again. But hey, that’s just me. Everyone is different. If playing Destiny makes the OP happier, then more power to him/her 👍
