Because they want you to identify with your Guardian instead of seeing it as a doll that you can manipulate at any time and in any way.

Wouldn't hurt to change stuff like the hair/markings though. Would actually encourage me to have my helmet off in noncombatant zones.
-
Agreed.

I made my Hunter when I was 14. I’m 20 years old now. I look a bit different than I did 6 years ago.
-
You are exactly right. Guardians are meant to reflect us. Except we can actually get haircuts in real life...
Because they want you to identify with your Guardian instead of seeing it as a doll that you can manipulate at any time and in any way.
Yet the love selling ornaments and added transmog 🤔
-
I change my look up all the time so this names no sense to me😊
-
Unfortunately for you this is about why Bungie does what they do.

Edited by TheArtist: 10/8/2021 11:51:05 PMSorry to hear that. Hope it gets better.

And thus we should be able to further customize our character My character is a female I am not. How can I identify with that?
-
Two of my three are female...and I have no problems with it. Whereas I realized early on that I struggled to do so with exos....so I don't play them.
-
yeah your dudes already just a doll you can already just delete your character at any moment to change their face without losing anything, ive done it more than a couple times. only real downside is having to unlock stasis all over again. a change like this wouldnt be anything more than a quality of life fix to a feature that already exists

Edited by TheArtist: 10/8/2021 4:35:53 PMLose nothing of value...... to you. The possiblity of my Guardian at its history not transferring over to Destiny 2 from D1 was a DEALBREAKER for me. Had they forced us to start over I would have walked away from the game....and I would still walk away if they took that from us. I have been playing the same main character with the same appearance now for over 7.5 years. LITERALLY since the Destiny 1 BETA.
a change like this wouldnt be anything more than a quality of life fix to a feature that already exists
No it wouldn't. It only seems like that to you, because you have no emotional investment or attachment to your character. That is the level at which you engage the game...and that is your choice. But that is not the game that Bungie wants to make, and they are within their rights not to make changes to the game that FOSTER the kind of attitude and relationship that you want with it. At every turn they make it clear that they want us to form an emotional attachment not only to our Guardians....but also to their gear (I disagree on this point). ..and setting up the game so that peole are constantly deleting characters, and changing aspects of their appearance that aren't changeable except through cosmetic surgery...and allowing people to do it like they change their underwear? No. Not the game they want to make, and not conducive to the experience they repeatedly state that they wish to create for us.

dont delete your character then if you dont wanna lose anything
-
I haven't deleted any characters from my main account, since the first few months of Y1 of D1.
-
well then there's no problem here
-
I mean being able to change characteristics would better make you identify with them if you had a change of tastes. Granted destiny's options aren't stellar.

Hairstyles and facial hair/makeup are one thing. But anything beyond that is not compatible with the kind of game Bungie wants to make.
