It costs 100 to open and you get 100+ from a completion. What is so hard about it. Its free loot.

  • I’m not sure where you get that number, but I just did Asttal Aligmnent and got about 70. Loot isn’t the point, not for that activity anyway. Requiring me to open the chest to move forward on the Wayfinder’s Voyage quest is the point. I can use that currency to focus engrams at the HELM, which is vastly more expensive, and has a significantly higher chance of yielding what I want.

  • Loot is the point of every activity in destiny.

  • Umm. No. The loot in Destiny is RNG based, and that is actually a pretty terrible reward system. If you aren’t mad you have to play this, and unlock the chest every week just so you can go do Shattered Realm, you should be. If loot is why you play, you’d be better served elsewhere in the game. Astral Alignment doesn’t even offer a Pinnacle drop, but you have to complete it to play an activity that does. Whether you believe loot is the reason people play Destiny has nothing to do with if opening a chest should be a qualifier for quest progress, unless it specifically states “open the chest”, which it does not. I am capable of following written instructions, but I can also think for myself, and I don’t want to open the second chest. It’s stupid. I shouldn’t need to, I already finished and got the first chest. The activity is complete, as indicated by the timer ticking in the corner of my screen. Making me repeat if to progress a quest, not to mention access Shattered Realm, is a waste of my time. And I do not like it when people waste my time.

  • Literally the reason behind every activity in destiny is loot. Not all loot is the exact piece you want but it is the loot you get at the end of an activity. From the a random drops at the end of a crucible match to the adept weapons dropped from nightfalls to exotics, it is all about loot.

  • For you. Not everyone. I noted a discrepancy in the quest line, which is what this post is about. You are projecting your belief system. Neither are related. I personally don’t care about end of activity loot. I dismantle almost every drop and play with the same five guns unless I have bounties. I really like Triumphs though. My post has nothing to do with loot. Sorry. It doesn’t. I don’t care about the parallax chest, which is why I didn’t open it. It gives out garbage compared to the Recaster (which has a chance of being less garbage). On the off chance I do get a weapon or armor piece worth keeping, I’ll get it from there, not a chest. You realize that, don’t you? Tier 3 focusing gives you two perk choices you can switch between. Even if you can only get three a week, that’s still a much better outcome than gambling with your time.

  • No, that is the point of the game. That is what the game has always been about. It’s not about what you think the game should be about, it’s about loot. You don’t play halo and complain it’s not a social sim, it’s about shooting stuff, and destiny is about loot.

  • Whatever imaginary items you play this game for is entirely up to you and anyone else, however, that has no bearing on my reality or the subject of this post. Your repeatedly stating what Destiny means to you will not change that.

  • Looting isn’t my main interest in the game, but destiny is still all about loot. It is still the entire point of the game. That’s the patient of all mmo style games.

  • Still has nothing to do with this post. If I haven’t expressed how much I dislike wasting my time, please let me illustrate it henceforth. Goodbye.

  • I mean it does. You’re complaining about the fact that the quest is progressed by the point of the game. You don’t get points toward your pinnacle for strikes after you’ve killed the boss, you get it after the loot has dropped because loot is the point of the game.
