Just removed the freezing concept for Stasis in PVP and allow “Slow” to become the element in PVP.

  • How exactly would warlock stasis work then? Half the super is the shattering frozen enemies. Not disagreeing i like the idea, just an issue I see is warlock rebalancing, also hunters kama that freezes on impact? So you feel throwing two seperate squalls would be a good change? Obviously not really but it would need looked into

  • It is hard to answer that because the problem I find most concerning is the Glacier grenades. I understand the concept behind freezing for supers but everything else should not be in the same case. Freezing should definitely happen in supers but the whole break out system is played out and doesnt belong in PVP. The current system when you get frozen in PVE is perfect for PVP yet it hasnt been introduced somehow. You get frozen briefly and you dont have to worry about breaking out but you have more than enough time to beat someone is a great solution yet not implemented in PVP. The problem that most players have with Shatterdive is the Glacier grenade component more than the Shatterdive itself because even Phoenix Dive has a similiar attack in Dawnblade super yet no one hasnt even mentioned it as a problem even with Dawn Chorus. You nerf the Glacier grenade to only to be used as a height advantage and “barrier” type grenade and boom the problem is fixed with Shatterdive. Then you remove the break out system of Stasis in PVP and boom Stasis is no longer a broken component to PVP. The problem with this community is Bungie has spoiled so many players with cheesy mechanics or cheesiness in general whether it is weapons, exotics, mods or abilities that most players refuse to acknowledge those “cheesiness” concept as what they are rather as a skill they somehow believe they developed. It is no different than slapping on the META with enhanced mobility and assuming you are outperforming players.

  • Yup instead of freezing slow should just be a thing. Even slow plays a huge part into winning matches.

Exactly. Stasis is the only subclass in the game that has a 2 part concept to it that are both brutal. You dont see see Solar causes explosions for every single burn. You dont see Arc causes lightning damage to occur for each player affected. You definitely dont see Void acting like a Black Hole.

  • Yup, honestly it's an amazing change, there should be no freeze but definite slow down and maybe to make it fair supers should slow down just a bit longer than abilities like grenades or melee

  • Boom. You hit the nail about the issue. To get killed in supers simply because someone froze you is dumb as hell.

Same. Slow is the element for Stasis. This is for PVP only. Obviously the problem is the freeze and not Shatterdive so address the issue itself. They literally have an artifact mod that allows light abilities to do more damage against Stasis, I am quite sure the same can be applied somehow. This is why I believe Stasis should have shipped after light subs were addressed first. They didnt think this whole concept through at all.

  • I appreciate where you’re going with this, but too many aspects, fragments, & abilities revolve around freezing for this to be a viable change in PvP. I’d rather change the property of what freezing does to a player, instead of just removing it entirely. Here’s what I mean. 1. Slows are fine. They balanced them enough to make this counter friendly. 2. Base level freezes shouldn’t freeze you solid. They should only freeze the lower half of the opponents body, giving them the ability to shoot, but not the ability to move. It keeps them in 1st person view. Only long freezes (Aka Supers) put you in a third person perspective. You’re frozen solid, and have the option to break out as it’s currently designed.

  • I see. I think the break out mechanic as a whole is dumb. It needs to be like it is in PVE. You get frozen and then you are unfrozen in a mere half a second. I will continue to be on the side that freezing in PVP should be removed. No other subclass in the game is similiar to this notion. You can see how bad a freezing mechanic is when facing Warlocks but mostly Hunters.

They’re all annoying if they aren’t done properly or don’t have some form of trade off. Sub zero from MK comes to mind. I think that’s a good preparation of a freeze mechanic that can be really bad if not done properly. Even Final Fantasy has had its share of freeze mechanics, like slow & stop, or petrify (Aka being turned to stone). Destiny hasn’t committed any taboo we haven’t seen from other games. It all comes down to how it’s done. Right now; it’s like 2 things I could really pick at, but we’re still pretty ok.

Those games play out completely different from how Destiny is played though. Freezing someone in MK cannot be compared to Destiny due to the fact it was a part of that character’s DNA and lore associated with that character. No matter how you spin it, I respect your mentality on the concept but Stasis freezing has been nothing but cancer since we gotten it and nobody has yet to complained after the update or adjustment to Stasis for being “Slow”. The people who complain about Shatterdive dont associate the freeze issue being the problem which is alarming. Honestly I wouldnt be surprised if the fix for Shatterdive would be to not allow the Glacier grenade to freeze at all but be used to acheive height advantage or to block areas. This way the ability to freeze will ONLY come from the actual super.

  • I respect your take as well, I just don’t see Bungie doing that. Completely removing the freeze I mean. The best thing I could ask for (personally) would be for short freezes to only freeze a players legs/lower half, giving the opponent the chance to fight back. With the only downside being unable to move for a brief moment. You’d still be in 1st person as well, so that sounds fair. The super freezes; they’ve done enough to make them alright to go up against.

  • Cool deal. Well I hope you get some answers or some traction. We need a change for sure.
