For the people who say "ITS NOT FOR CASUALS GIT GUD!" you have to realize that if you abandon casual players the playlist dies, plain and simple. Why was trials so good in D1? Because sooooo many people played it. Any slightly above average player could go flawless with some luck and good teamwork because the whole playerbase was playing every weekend so 90% of your games were against other average players. In d2, there is truly no reason to step foot in the playlist if you cant go flawless, so every game is against stacked sweat teams, service streamers, recovs, people who use meta, or cheaters. Not often do you match people who are truly average at the game and are a free win because people like that just have no reason to play.
If trials is ever going to improve it needs to have more appeal to casuals in order to populate the playlist more and make the matchmaking more reasonable, which makes the experience better for everyone. It is a self fulfilling prophecy. The more people who play, the better the matchmaking is and the more fun the mode is.

It's never been for casuals, and is still alive and strong every weekend. Let the sweats compare sack diameters and length and girth and you go play something else. Or mow the lawn, or wash the car...

Yeah bigger playerbase would be nice, small playerbase = more sweats. I mean just look at console PvP, there are a lot of "bots" compared to PC, just unbelieveable completly different games.

Well said. When I played trials in D1, I would encounter some sweats on occasion. It's inevitable. Most of the time though I would be pitted against people who were at my skill level or slightly better than me. In D2, you'll be made to fight a full fireteam of people with the Gilded Flawless seal, and they'll make short work of you. For me, I think it's better if I step away from trials and stick to PvE and/or normal PvP.

I can go flawless without much issue and I still sympathize with the sticking to PvE and casual PvP sentiment. Trials, especially on PC, is horrible. Even if you can go flawless on the first try whenever you want, the gameplay is not fun and it is not worth the rewards at all. I played it when it first came out and then avoided it like the plague for the longest time when BL came out, Ive gotten back into it a bit since the stasis nerf but it is still very bad and I fully sympathize with the casual players who hate the mode. It needs full reform.

Honestly. If it wont get the love it needs from bungie It should die. Serves no purpose anymore

Edited by michael: 7/12/2021 10:14:34 PMDont know if this is the play but I definitely can't say I would be on my knees pleading for it to stay, it is really not very fun at all and this is coming from someone who can go flawless pretty easily

BUT, if they dont work this whole ' tier' system properly, people are immediately going to recognize that theyre just being dragged into trials as streamer fodder, and once again will refuse to play it.

yes loot is by far the biggest problem
-
They could put pre nerfed not forgotten in it and I still wouldn't touch it with a 100 foot pole
-
i did say the biggest problem not the only problem. matchmaking is up there and this is before even mentioning how the meta impacts the trials experience

Edited by TINY_RIIIIIIIIICK: 7/12/2021 12:06:45 AMThe loot for content like Trials, GMS, and Raids, should have always been achievements, titles, and skins. Peoples ability to get better weapons and armor should never even be a fractional determining factor in a game like this. The idea like any game would to be able to show off how awesome you look and the sweet title you gained for doing the thing. But then they shoved all the good loot into eververse.

An intelligent, logical post that was well written. Thanks! You are right...
