Hi there. Interacting from behind was only a workaround for an issue where speaking to the statue from the front would crash your game—that issue has since been resolved.
You have only just begun the quest for Wish-Ender by presenting your Talisman. You must now complete the ??? mission on the Tangled Shore to continue.

I couldn't see the quest in my quest log though? Is that meant to happen?
