Halo 3 was the best PVP experience I’ve had (potentially along with Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 1/2). What this says to me is: - either games 10 years ago were objectively better or games now have failed to innovate - games these days just aren’t as fun and compelling as they were

  • Games back then we're a bit more casuals ....now everyone want to be the next big streamer or think their KD mean anything Also I don't know your current age but chances are 10 year ago you didn't had as much responsibility you have today's....so you remember enjoying these game more.... And lastly nostalgia is not the best to value something....you are more likely to forgot the worst part of the game the more time pass.... D2 PvP is kinda bad tho...and the lack of sbmm and ego boosting stacks make it a terrible experience....I honestly believe pvp should be either be completely removed or be a separate thing with its own level up and perk system.....while it was cool at 1st in D1 to Get something and then try it on PvP it's charm left a long time ago

I’m 36 now - so appreciate there may be some nostalgia effect, but also means I’ve played a lot of games and I can genuinely say games have got prettier and often more complex, but generally lost fun and less emphasis on quality. Whilst 10 years ago obviously online gaming was huge, MX didn’t really exist - it was ‘proper’ paid for DLC (the sort of DLC we used to get back in D1). What this meant was each game and DLC had to stand alone and offer something, otherwise people wouldn’t buy it. They couldn’t say ‘this is rubbish but keep paying us money and it will maybe get better’ that people accept now. Years ago gamers were warned this would happen and we have as a community largely walked knowingly into the situation we have now, where PVP is not even considered, reintroduced loot is seen as a win and a drip feed of shallow content is sold as ‘narrative’. EDIT: games ‘back then’ I assure you were played absolutely hardcore online despite no Twitch etc. There were still pro players about!

  • It's a hard one to crack. My friends and I also played MW 1/2 and we feel the same. It could be that the games were so new and there was nothing really like it at the time. The internet was unfolding and people were becoming more interconnected. Now the market is saturated in FPS games that are all wanting a piece of the pie and have watered down what a true PVP experience once was. I'm hoping from the looks of Halo Infinite brings to life a once top tier FPS franchise and give Bungie to have inspiration to either add more to the life blood of their PVP scene or drop it entirely and focus completely towards PVE. Personally, hope it's the former of the two but I digress.
