SBMM doesn’t belong in a casual Valor setting.
Especially in P2P networking.
There’s literally no point.
Broken Lobby balancing has ruined this games PvP.
But the console gens have the population slit yet again.
Survival and Elim both have SBMM enabled.
And it’s called CONTROL not capture.
Yes new maps are needed. But good luck with that.
Special scavenger mods need to be disabled

Without SBMM Valor playlists are only casual if you're in the top 50%. If you're in the bottom half you're just fodder for the top half and every match is sweaty as hell. And Comp SBMM doesn't really matter since most average or below average players don't bother. Since removal of SBMM the bottom half has virtually stopped playing aside from doing weekly pinnacle rewards at the beginning of the season. The numbers support this as does my personal experience. I was an average player around 1.5 KDA under SBMM in Control (the only mode I play), when SBMM was removed I immediately shot up over 2.0 for an entire season, since then it's been decreasing as the below average players have opted out and am now sitting at around 1.25 and have stopped playing due to getting stomped in 75% of my games. Basically removing SBMM has just recreated a single skill-tier for players in the top half which I'm sure is great if you're in the top 25% of all players, but sucks if you're not.

The top 25% are there cuz they put in the time to get there.

It not just about time. There is such thing as innate skill and ability which makes a ton of difference. You wouldn’t say anyone can play in the NBA and be better than LeBron if they just put in the time. I love Destiny PvP and have played a ton since D1 started. I have more than 100K defeats in D2 which is in the top 1%, but a KD only in the top 30%. Try all I might I’m never going to be a top player and I’m cool with that. I don’t really enjoy elim or trials and really just play to have fun. I rarely run the meta because it’s boring and don’t mind close matches so long as it’s a fair fight. But so long as you’re putting top 10% players against bottom 50% players the pool will shrink because no one likes an unfair fight unless you’re on the top of the imbalance.

Lobby balancing. And ppl aren’t leaving. PvP had 450k participants as of yesterday. Which is average.

Debatable number do to the fact of challenges, catalysts, and quests.

The average player win/loss ratio reflects a relatively standard bell curve with the vast majority of players falling within one standard deviation of the average of 50/50. I’m talking about overall experience. Prior to the removal of SBMM which happed on June 10th of last year Crucible was averaging around 400-450k players daily. This was considered low given historic numbers which ran as high as 1M+ between Forsaken and Shadowkeep. After the removal of SBMM population increased for a period of several months to around 700k daily players. Now we’re sitting back around 400-450k regularly due to players leaving. Yes the meta and poor lobby balancing are partly to blame but it’s also a worse experience for the average player. Just saying I didn’t get way better than I’d ever been when SBMM was removed and then way worse than I’d ever been. No, the lower skilled players I was feeding on left and now rather than being on the upper end of the overall skill curve I’m now on the bottom half and don’t find it fun anymore. The lower half will continue to leave until there’s nothing left but one skill tier of the upper third of all players at which point they’ll have to bring back SBMM to build the population back up since no one is going to get stomped and just take it for an extended period.
