This is a bug and there are multiple posts on it. Mine is the most detailed I’ve seen so far. Your gun still has Unrelenting as long as you don’t apply Bottomless Grief. If you do apply it, then Bungie may or may not be able to tell what the original perk was.

I didn’t know that. The odd part is when I vaulted it the other day it auto applied the perk. I take it this means I just have to hope for the swarm to go into the loot pool again?

So in my case on the weapon detail screen it shows Bottomless Grief as the only perk, but it isn’t selected. In DIM, it shows the gun has both perks and Unrelenting is selected. And of course if I kill things I get health back. Basically the Unrelenting perk is no longer available, but it was already applied to the gun, so it’s active until a different perk is applied. My guess is that this was related to maintenance work in preparation for Adept weapons getting Bottomless Grief as a second option.
