I used to play Yugioh back when I was in high school (mid-2000s) and was really good, like placing high, or winning tournament-levels of good but I stopped playing when my friends stopped playing. For what it's worth, that's when there was really only one meta and every high level player's decks were almost identical. I've always been tempted to get back into it, even though it's wildly different. One of my buddies that I used to play with has a son who plays now (which is wild to me on its own) and said as much. OTOH, I've been tempted to get into MTG since that's the TCG that most of my friends who play TCGs play, but yeah, I also feel like I'd wreck my wallet.
